Yes. It had some art and a couple of test maps made for it. It worked by drawing the screen rotated 90 degrees, so all of the road was actually made out of walls. There were even some vertical loops.

So was the image that would display on the arcade machines in some levels of Duke riding a motorcycle, edited images from these maps? I know you shared with use the original graphics that were put into that picture I'm referring to. But I was curious if that screen shows one of the maps in action (even if only in 2-3 frames)?

The Born To Be Wild animation in the karaoke bar of Raw Meat. The motorcycle part definitely exists as a sprite so that I'm guessing was the HUD graphic. I'm not sure about the endless strip with all the palm trees if that was ever a serious part of a map.

I don't consider an achievement for picking up poop or microwaving a rat to be "Duke"... but I did consider the player *discovering* they could pick up the rat... and then remembering they could put popcorn in the microwave... and wondering... "Can I?" to be Duke. Same for poop... it had to be a surprise, not a first level achievement. Fuck that shit. Literally.

This was my biggest issue with DNF's interactivity. None of it was for the sake of curiosity, everything had a "purpose" which misses the point entirely. Duke3D had tons of pointless interactivity, DNF has none that I can remember.

Eating Food?
Soda Machines?
Spinning Chairs?
Light Switches?
Dildos?
Cigarette boxes & their machines?
White Boards and drawing on them?
and more I can't remember.

DNF had plenty of pointless interactivity, only the more obvious and encouraged ones had ego boost purposes.

This thread makes me sad.

Should just lock it and pin it. Forever a reminder of what could have been but wasn't due to a multitude of factors, the responsibility of which was on a multitude of shoulders, yet undeliverable by each of them for a multitude of reasons. A reminder of the curse. And to mourn what we've lost and always cherish what we have because that's likely all we will get.

Is Duke receiving a heavy blow from a glory hole in the men's stall not memorable enough?

On the topic of DNF, the thing that depresses me the most about the early builds not getting released is that if they were released, there likely would've been community projects to finish them (particularly the 2001/2002 build(s)).

The most memorable part was that there was also a guy sitting on the toilet in that stall.

The weirdest part about it was that it was Duke's dream.

Actually, I forgot all about that.

Also - picking up shit and throwing it at walls. I wish I could un-remember that :P

They made a whole trailer around it. They were so proud of that addition to the game.

Yeah, it was a pretty shitty trailer

That was the problem. It didn't inspire creativity, it was all canned.

They should have put urination and vomiting in there so it would be like Postal 2. What other stupid bodily function garbage could they put in DNF... Douche Nukem eating something from Duke Burger and getting food poisoning turning him into a geyser from both ends for a while?

DN3D had enemies that spit in Duke's face, so he should finally be able to spit back.

Add some wind physics along with the ability to charge up a loogie and you've got a modern day Monkey Island 2.

If poo could be thrown at enemies in DNF, maybe it could be forgiven a little.

Does Duke have corrosive spit too?

Not really. He does have a kind of spit that will destroy the aliens' will to live but it takes a few minutes to charge up.

I see. Smoking cigars I imagine he could cough up some pretty horrible things.

You can shock yourself on some of the wall outlets.

...Yeah that's it.

How exactly does he shock himself on the outlets? I'm trying to picture what Duke is doing, like is he sticking a fork in the openings?

You could do that in Duke3D.

You're reading into it too much.

It's like childhood fascination. I like to extrapolate on these scenarios in my head. It's hilarious if you think about it because it's something that little kids (including myself) do.

I was thinking the same. In Duke Nukem Forever, you play as a clone of Duke. However in The Doctor Who Cloned Me, you play as a clone of that Duke clone.

My headcanon is a little different. You actually play as the real Duke in both DNF and TDWCM...

BUT...

DNF is showing us a distorted version of the events that actually happened in the Dukeverse. Ever wondered why, in DNF, Duke is douchy and one-dimensional, while Doctor Proton is intelligent, dangerous and competent?
Because...

DNF shows a series of events which are being narrated by Doctor Proton.

Proof:
Voice of the narrator in the reveal trailer
Voice of Doctor Proton in the TDWCM trailer

They are identical! So the reason why Doctor Proton is more interesting than Duke in DNF is that we're listening to Doctor Proton's version of the story, where he is bragging about himself and slandering Duke.

Anybody know where I can hear itsgreen.mid? An earlier post with it doesn't have a working link. I saw somebody mention they'd like it to be used in Duke World Tour, I don't think I've heard this track before. Thanks!
