NOTE
Prey's story and character are still in their infancy stages. None of this
should be considered final product, just development info. We want to take
the step, since the game is about being hunted, of making the character a
Native American. The character will be a successful business person or
politician, striking against the stereotypes. While a few aspects of Native
American culture will be brought into it, it will be as part of fleshing out
the character.

STORY
You are a successful Native American, fighting for part of what were your
ancestral lands. When the ruling goes against you, you pack up your Hummer
and head out to the wilderness to contemplate your future and hope for
guidance. Suddenly, there is a blinding flash of light, your skin crawls
with electricity and you black out. You wake to find yourself in a hostile
alien environment. Strange creatures pour out of every crevice of the odd
alien architecture, firing weapons of incredible might. You must find out
how to defeat them: master the alien weapons, explore the foreboding
battlefields to uncover their secrets, and discover what part you will take
in this violent new world.

Those screenshots remind me of Prey Invasion on the iPod Touch, specifically the first few levels you play. Too bad I can't find the game anymore on the iTunes store but it was a bit mediocre despite the impressive graphics (for the time).

I remember those screens and that synopsis. Was on the Shadow Warrior disc, right? Or was it the Duke3D Atomic disc?

They are from the Duke disc because by the time Shadow Warrior was released Tom Hall had left the Prey project.

AFAIK this hasn't been asked yet, and I'm not sure if it's a stupid question, but is there a chance there might be more up-to-date source codes for D3D and SW than what was released? IIRC the source code for SW doesn't have multiplayer functionality and hence SW Redux won't have coop and Wang Bang :)

IIRC, they had developed their own 3D engine. Due to the time it was made and the capability of PCs at that time, it will look very 'Quakey'

That engine was pretty beyond Quake in other respects as far as I remember. At least in terms of texture resolution and everything else that was going into it for speed/performance. (Not that you can get too much faster than Quake... What a slick and sexy engine that thing was. Posted Image)

There are SW source backups from every few days right up to the release date of SW 1.2, so yes. However, JFSW has functioning multiplayer, but it would take comparable work to get Redux up and running as Megaton did.

The latest Duke source I've found is labeled v1.4.

TX and I haven't been sent anything containing Chuck Jones' models. We were sent a backup of his hard disk, but it only contains his software, not any data. There are ".max" files but they appear to be stock examples included with 3DS Max. I don't know if the models exist elsewhere.

No. The issue is permission from all rights-holders involved and/or the OK from 3DR. With permission the MIDI files themselves would be upped, and YouTube too.

Very unappreciated game, started life as Terminator before the license went to - I think - LJN. Has kickass music too.

I listened to 4 songs from that game and I swear they could have been written by guitarist Joe Satriani. They really had his style. Especially the song in the link.

We saw a title screen for a Beta Bio Hazard.

Nothing is being released until the new 3D Realms website is out.

I can say the following in addition to the wait for the new website:

1. All but one Duke Nukem II prototype will not run and I have not yet been able to reverse-engineer them enough to run them.
2. The Bio-Hazard proto has damage to the art data which will likely require assistance from Keen Galaxy modding community to repair, if possible.

Those early Prey screenshots are great. I really like the low poly geometry of 90's games. You can literally count all of them in the screenshots in a few seconds, and it just looks so clean and spacious.
