Still have to do some demons for it but I'm glad i went more detailed for this one

One thing I always liked about the Marine's pose in that picture (and the box cover) was how his left hand was outstretched, open yet at the same time grasped in a clenching or beckoning motion, as if he's saying "come get some".

Great sketch, by the way. :)

I thought a demon was grabbing his arm, hence the odd position?

I played a doom mod called Prodoomer this last week, and reviewed it - it had some frustrating sections but it was a really cool mod that had a bunch of neat ideas and a pretty fun atmosphere.

Played it. Man, this wad is just crazy. He even used the level end screen from Sonic 2006! :)

3DO Doom source code has just been found.

Somebody please optimize the shit out of this port! I think it's best to find a way to set detail level to low, as it was on Atari Jaguar version. The 3DO version keeps the high detail setting, which doesn's help a low framerate.

It seems to include all the data assets as well, and the readme and the MIT License suggest that anyone can "deal in the Software without restriction, including without limitation the rights to use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, and/or sell copies of the Software, and to permit persons to whom the Software is furnished to do so". So can this thing be ported to other platforms to get a completely free Doom game (with the awesome 3DO soundtrack)?

I can use the Doom editors better than the Build editors.

I am building a 32 map megawad on my own for the PrBoom sourceport, I have 16/32 maps done as of now and I am planning of having MAP32 use the recently released 3DO assets (As well as some really old Doom Alpha/press release resources) to make it look old and more primitive (I'm also planning to emulate a 90's style into it to make it feel even older and primitive).

Here is a download to a recent beta version (Still a lot to improve) if anybody is interested:

http://www.mediafire...BM_21_11_14.rar

A lot of the included content is just placeholder for now, I am actually planning on using these maps to learn BUILD (Mapster32) by recreating them in the Build engine.

An obscure official Doom level has been found in a 3DO Doom source.

This level doesn't look very interesting...

It's a fragment of an already-existing DooM 1 map. The rightmost part of the map is from E2M5. The other part, I don't recognize.

Yeah, it pretty much sucks. Art Data Interactive was pretty ambitious about adding new content to the game (new levels, weapons etc) but they only had talent to create music.

Oh, I see... Pretty interesting actually, since the part of E2M5 wasn't in the original Jaguar version.

I also downloaded the source code archive just to listen to the awesome music :)

Not surprisingly, the answer is no, as the license only applies to the code:

Here's the second bfg keyframe. You can actually use both of them and make it work in game I think.
He also released the multicolored sprites that the bfg was supposed to shoot.
I would love to see if somebody tries to make this thing work ingame and use those multicolored sprites with it.
Here's a full res archive of everything that Romero has released onto the world today.

Haven't you played the pre-release demo? The BFG worked like that (except that the gun sprite was like the final version).

Is that meant to be a Demon gibbed with a rocket? I wonder if that was left out because the Demon had too much health to be gibbed in game.

It could have been something like that, unfortunately Romero didn't state what it was intended to be used for.

Link to the animated gif version that someone made.
