Condemned Criminal Origins now on Steam! "I noticed it yesterday!"

I'm going through and do not have the taser binded to any key or mouse button, so that way I can't use it. The only way a true gamer goes through Condemned, is without the taser!

Why make a topic about a game on steam that has been around since years?

This game was a great out of the box experience when it came out.
It ran without bugs and without the smallest stutter or problem and it never got any patches ever!
Graphics amazed me because knowing it used F.E.A.R 1's engine I expected it to be shittier since I hadn't heard about the game until I randomly got it one day when it came out.
It was one of the few games that ran perfectly maxed out from day one on my very moderate hardware of back then.
The game was concise, ambiental, well done, good looking and to the point.
This game is one of the most underrated games ever made.
To me it's a platinum game.

A true gamer only plays FPS games.
All jokes aside that is cool and I will buy that eventually. I have a physical copy but lol physical copies
Also, Condemned > FEAR

That´s a bit too much. Both are great games but I´d prefer FEAR any day of the week.

I played the game years ago, but I didn't know Steam had it. When I bought it in 2008, it cost me 29 bucks from D2D. Then I lost it when I got a new computer. I hope one day Steam get's Condemned: Bloodshot
True gamers play FPS, and with Condemned, true gamers play on hard with taser disabled.

But it's still one of the best shooters. Everything is just so god damn visceral, and the effects make you feel like the environments are being destroyed

There's also no other game made before or after it, that gives me so much satisfaction in shooting various parts of the npc's bodies as they run and see them bend and have sparks fly out of them.
The A.I for that game still amazes me today and the way npc's coordinate themselves as real life swat teams and always manage to take you by surprise, is a pure pc FPS experience that no console kid will ever get to understand.
Another ingredient that makes F.E.A.R so great is the sound effects of every bullet and weapon and different sounding surface that gets hit by bullets combined with that shitload of sparks that fly when bullets hit shit.
Also loved how npcs start waving their arms around as they shoot in all directions when you destabilize them with a few shots.
And how can anybody that truly played F.E.A.R, ever forget the pleasure of quick saving before a nice fight and then attempting to kill all of the enemies in that sector without losing a single health point and getting more and more creative at killing with style, each time you killed them all by reloading the same scene again and again until you felt happy with how you took all of them down.
The pleasure of going in slow mo and hitting a huge group of npcs with a grenade and witness them all turn to gibs in slow motion while staring at that nice pixel shader shockwave effect ahh good times.
I also loved the 10mm HV Penetrator to nail enemies to the wall..
Or the particle weapon that turned enemies into burnt skeletons.
So many fucking fun weapons in that game, I can't even count them all.

One problem with that game though. All of the weapon models have looked like shit since day one.
I never liked the weapon models, they felt very low poly and low res and skinny.. small on the screen in some way.
I've played much older 3d model based fps games that had the weapons look much more realistic than they did in fear.
But one thing is clear, they might have looked bad but they performed amazingly real.

Comparison is not pointless at all. Makes for a good debate
FEAR...I got it when it came out. I got real bored by the middle of the game. Other than wall dust I didn't see anything outstanding (my opinion of course). I guess I didn't get the wow factor.
With Condemned, the atmosphere alone is a huge wow for me. Just the spooky background music during the levels is enough, not to mention the melee action and awesome assortment of melee weapons available. But everyone is different. For me, I play for the escape of it...so atmosphere is my most important requirement. And then, gameplay action.

Definitely agree about the weapons in F.E.A.R.. They were all so satisfying to use, and it was great replaying certain encounters over and over again just to see how well you could do it. Used to have heaps of fun facing a stack of enemies with the dual pistols. I see a replay of this once I've cleared my backlog of games.

That all said, I would love a new Condemned and Fear, if they played near exactly how the originals did.

What are the odds that will get ported and then on Steam? Since I like Criminal Origins so well, I'd love to give Bloodshot it a try!
I feel bad for the poor Germans, both Condemned games are banned from Germany due to "extreme violence".

Absolutely zero.
But I never got to play it either... would like to though, but I guess I'll have to buy an XBOX to do that

The combat felt better, you could use your fists if you didn't have a weapon and you could throw melee weapons also. It felt more chaotic in the best sense. I also believe you were able to holster any weapon to carry another one, but that may have been an upgrade (or not in it at all)
The atmosphere of the first one felt better. It felt more grounded in reality, and the SCI like part of it felt more interesting. The last level from Condemned 1, the one in the barns, is more like how Bloodshot is. I didn't like the alternate reality/nightmare type stuff too much, and they were featured heavily in Bloodshot. The multiplayer was damn fun for the brief time people played it.
