So wireless HDMI transmitters/receivers are a thing, was wondering if someone's ever had one of those and if they work properly. Thinking of getting one as I don't want to run a several meters long HDMI cable through my appartment

they work pretty good depending on distance and walls.
IOGear is probably the best one but a bit pricey
the Belkin i use works well enough. it's in the adjacent room, but i wouldn't put it any farther away than that

Are they PC-only or it doesn't matter where you connect reciever/transmitter?
#4 Posted 26 January 2014 - 09:19 AM
they don't (necessarily) connect to a pc
depending on brand/#inputs & outputs an example would be to connect a cable box & a blueray player to the inputs then transmit to a TV

I have a 10 meter hdmi cable going to a TV from the reciever. Probably would have used a wireless then if I could. Now - it doesn't matter.

My PC is adjacent to my TV, distance is about 3 meters, so that would be fine.
This is really something I would want to test first before spending too much money on it :/ But I don't think any place would offer such a service.

Do you have TV in adjacent or the same room? I hope you're not buying all that crap for a 3 meter distance in the same room.

It's in the same room. Thanks for your input but permanently having a cable running across the floor is not something I'm interested in nor is having to lay the cable each time I want to watch something.

You should consider buying a long white HDMI cable and running it on the baseboard of the wall.
We run Cat5 cables under the heat registers in our house. You'd never know they're there unless Kathy was laying down on the floor, with me on top.

this
-or blue, or yellow, or black, or grey. or red, or etc- they come in alot of colors that will camouflage the bits that stick out from under the baseboards / or run along the floor against the wall if you can't get under the baseboards
much cheaper alternative
a decent hdmi cable that's 30ft (should be more than enough) will run about $50 us
a decent transmitter that's worth a damn will run about $160 us, but the better quality ones will start at around the low $200s us
but if you plan on having items in different rooms sometime in the near future a transmitter would be worth it
otherwise i would go with a cable and wait a year or two for the prices to drop
as for trying one out; most reputable shops will let you return it within 15 to 30 days if it doesn't work properly
this isn't a bad kit:

i'd ignore the price listed - it can be found elsewhere cheaper i.e.:

http://www.bestbuy.c...d=1218542466682
etc. just web search it

But that would take effort

Technology has only advanced the way it has because of lazy people.

For the records, I have a cheap 15m HDMI cable that works with no issues.

...I mean there are truly no long-term studies on that stuff.
Worst case: In 50 years the whole western world is riddled with cancer^^
