Any rap worth listening to?

Yes, I know this topic title seems like an oxymoron.

Most of you might know I'm not a huge fan of hip-hop. However, there are a tiny number of hip-hop bands I do like: namely Public Enemy, N*E*R*D, MC Frontalot (I know that probably doesn't count). I've branched out my interests in all sorts of genres but sort of refused to branch out in this particular one because they all sound the same, and the musical and lyrical quality isn't very inspiring.

So, humor me. Tell me which hip-hop artists I should be looking towards.

Mad Conductor is probably the best band I've ever seen live. MC Devlin is cool as shit and he pointed the mic to me a few times because I knew every word. His raps are littered with cultural references from books to movies to sports and all kinds of other shit. The music is highly experimental, and he's the only rapper I know of that has released an entire record of songs not in 4/4 time (Central America EP.)

Other hip-hop artists I've listened to and liked: Ultramagnetic MC's, Mantronix, The Roots, N.W.A., Paris.

A top 50 list from a music site I lurk from: http://www.musicmete.../topmisc/hiphop

Then there's Urban Dance Squad, a Dutch rap/rock crossover group you may like.

I must have missed the part where he said he was looking for a soundtrack to listen to while he shoves his nuts up his little brother's butthole.

Everlast? Don't own any of his albums nor do I remember liking anything House of Pain did, but all of Everlast's solo material that made it to the radio was pretty damn good (What it's like, Ends, White Trash Beautiful, etc.)

Cross stick rhythms and a couple of scratches do not make hip-hop.

some favorites off the top of my head. there is plenty of good rap out there with talented lyricists and inspiring instrumentists, you just have to look beyond the wall of shit that's presented to you on a daily basis just like in every genre of music, movies or art in general. hope you can find some stuff you like in that list and dig from there

Damn you're ugly, these forums could use some diversity instead of being a bit on racist side. Anyone can like Duke, oh guess I should of just put it in "what are you listening to now" either way was going up but sorry I never saw this thread so thought I would add some good artists/songs. Ahh shit I am laughing
