Technically it is piracy, so you are not allowed to post here.

Technically, they were selling maps they didn't even make but instead stole from the internet and paid the original artists nothing, so screw them.

They were not really selling the Maps or anything all was available for download. on the internet, but the internet was so dam slow back then.
They just made a CD-ROM so you would not have to download every single map. It was not common to have a CD -ROM burner back then either.
You just paid for a nice CD to load the maps on your computer. My hard drive was only 450mb back then. Maps always got deleted to free up space
on the hard drive.

I wouldn't call it piracy at all, I would call the price they charged for the product a distribution fee (which they already collected when they distributed it via retail in the first place).

So what if we posted the maps (I don't know why) and not the software that was bundled with it?

That would certainly be legal with no ambiguity.

The "Shareware CD" archive at the Internet Archive jumped the shark ages ago when it decided to add russian-based warez compilations which sadly aren't still removed. Someone there is perverting the DMCA sanctions archive.org has...

Someone needs to do something about this shit before something terribad happens, as I used to love the place for the few legal CDs of actual shareware there, and Computer Chronicles archives.
