Can't believe somebody did this, so well too.

Looks and palys better than Doom 3. Not that D3 was bad, but this was just a perfect recreation of the feeling of Doom. From the sounds, to the weapons, and to the Monsters. Especially with the mix of HL maps/monsters/weapons, it still felt like Doom.

Now all they need to do is port every single doom 1 map to source like I've seen it can be done with quite a lot of success.

It's supposedly really easy to do. From personal experience I know it takes all of 5 minutes to port a quake 1 level to HL2, not counting entities, and apparently people have written converters to convert Doom maps to Quake anyway so it would just need that extra step.

Reminds me of when I was able to open doom maps in Build. That was fun.

There are maps already for this?

No, I just loaded up gm_construct and placed some objects and doom props, and some monsters, then changed the sky color.

lol there's a console command that converts all regular rotating doors to doom doors that slide up and make the doom sounds too.

I hope we will be able to play all the original maps soon. It would be like having a new multiplayer source port

Oh, forgot I had garrys mod with this steam account. SWEET!

That's so fucking sweet. Makes me think how awesome it would be to have a modern AAA title with a current engine with a plot that centers all around 2D enemies escaping into the "real" world.

Took me a few minutes to make this.

By make do you mean convert or build from scratch?

Make from scratch is definitely believable, moreso because of the Hammer editor. Such an easy toolkit to make anything. Easier than UDK and Unity.

You forgot the skull lamps at the exit door and the pillar lights near the end.
But it does feel like doom with the exception of that weird fov.
Then again it's not doom, yet it can trick somebody that it is.
It kind of looks like the opengl doom source ports, if nobody tells you it's gmod that is.

I still lol at people that refuse to get Garrys mod because all they think it is is some game where you put rag dolls in silly poses.

I got GMod for all the different game modes and addons, this one is pretty cool.

Because they just only see some noob-ish players did stupid noob-like shit and think Garry's mod is all about that...

I know Garry's mod is cool but just don't have enough time to mess around with it, so I still not get it yet...

You have the dev version?

I preordered one but canceled it. Kinda seems like a waste. $300 for a device that won't even be supported for a full year. I'm about as good at programming as Amanda Bynes is at driving.

Yeah, because I have a game development job. $300 is cheap compared to any other device in the same field. Especially with out of the box support for engines. Why would you need to know programming? Unity is easy enough for amateur developers. Not to mention, you're not looking at it from a developer perspective. The device is the start of the future and having access to it from a very low price is grounds for 'MONEY'. Do you know how expensive console dev kits are? Seriously, $300 is nothing for a dev kit.

Though i'm pretty sure a lot of gamers bought the device not understand its a dev kit...meaning not final.

Don't get me wrong. I think it's the future. It's the first device since the Dreamcast that has made my jaw drop and give me that itch that can't be scratched until I own one.

I'm buying an Oculus on launch day.

Had no idea what an Oculus Rift is until I looked it up just then. Seems like a pretty good idea, I hope when it comes out you can still wear it with glasses.

Anyway, who's up for making a gmduke?

The April Dev Kits allow for glasses, so no worries there. My company and some old college folks are going to have a little game jam when I get the April Dev Kit. I'm a little split between using Unity or UDK. I have a ton of games developed in Unity, but I'd loved to give it a go with UDK and produce some fine games.

Dude you need to make something REALLY GAY. I'm talking dicks in face VR. Goatse teleports. Floppy granny titties. Morbidly obese strippers with shitting dicknipples. Just make the worst thing humanly possible.

Implying that this thing isn't going to be used for absolutely horrible purposes after it's released.
