DTS should be worse than CD's PCM, no?

Good enough for me. It's not about this kind of quality. 1510kbps/6ch DTS is still about double the bitrate of VBR V0 stereo MP3 per channel.
Compared to Aero I think Jarre did not take care enough about the details when re-recording/mixing.
IIRC this was most likely done due to copyright issues with the original album. I wouldn't mind a 5.1 version of Equinoxe, btw.

Equinoxe was my favorite album for about 20 years (I love the opening) until Oxygene took over.

What about "Waiting for Cousteau"? Mine's favorite, quite frankly.

Hm, no, I don't like that Calypso stuff. The long main title is OK if I'm in the right mood. I'm more the Dark Side of the Moog-type of guy when electronic music is concerned.

Well, the first track is of course quite childish, but it gradually goes darker. The last part is pretty fantastic.

I actually haven't anticipated the track would be an ambient one. Which is good.

What does it mean? Klaus Schulze?

Klaus Schulze/Pete Namlook cooperation. Eleven albums so far. Quite Jarrish, especially Part VI.

The latest incarnation is DTS5.1. If I should ever become a Duke3D mapper, I might choose this as a soundtrack. Hm, I might check if EDuke32 handles multichannel OGGs correctly.

Well, I like Schulze's 70s stuff.

You keep mentioning 5.1 albums. Haven't heard anything in 5.1. Don't know if I should... They're in dvd-audio format, right?

I have just started listening to that stuff when I copied some albums from my brother-in-law.

Mostly. There are 44KHz DTS-CDs, too, which need the CD-player's digital output being connected to an AV-receiver. Btw, there is a difference between Audio-DVD (DTS, AC3) and DVD-Audio (MLP, does not play on usual DVD players).

Surround music is cool if you have a proper set of speakers.
Using a really expensive stereo setup in an especially furnished living room obsoletes surround speakers when listening to Jazz/Classical since the live experience is sitting in front of a stage, anyway.
But other than that, when electronic/pop music is mixed for 5.1 it's very enjoyable on my mid-price setup.
And in my non-perfect living room, the 5.1 mixes on my classical DVD/SACD are a way better experience than the stereo versions.

For a starter I'd recommend Jarre's AERO / Depeche Mode's Sounds of the Universe or downloading some free ambient stuff from Diatonis

Hey, this is a pretty good song. I'm listening to it right now as well. :(

It has a nice catchy tune, and although it's mostly repetitive lyrics, the 3 different languages fit in together so well, it's all a mix of English, Danish and German..!

Right now I'm listening to this, Mike Oldfield - Foreign Affair, I like the almost eerie tone of the voice, the music goes a tiny bit up-beat early on, but goes back into eerie-mode after that for the rest of the song again..!
Not much to say about the lyrics, I just find it a little enchanting to listen to...

I love Meshuggah! Going to see them live in the autumn. I is not maybe one of their finest songs, but definitely worth a listening if you're into their music. It's definitely their longest song, for sure :( . What did you think about the new album, Koloss?
