cool to see that 3D Realms now has hired another programmer and a level designer.

This isn't related to this thread, but I'm sure you will check it out anyway. It's a video interview with Jon St. John!

So as of right now no voice work of Duke has been done.
Although I guess that doesn't mean anything since I'd imagine once they have their shit together it wouldn't really take him all that long to record a bunch of lines.

Yeah and the funny thing was when he said go ahead and email George for Harassment... LOL I can't believe he said that, HAHA!! I wonder how friendly George will respond to Jon St. John for that, the next time they meet.

It depends on how much voice work is needed... for GTA IV it was like six months... will duke be the only person talking? We should keep tabs on other voice actors too, just incase they do any work for old georgie boy. And also if it is actually dialogue (Which for duke is sort of weird) or only one liners.
and I'd imagine George just erases any e-mails he gets from anyone on the outside world. but it would be funny to think about his reaction.
"You're fired"

I don't think it's weird for Duke to have dialog. I think they will take the cheesyness a notch down and actually have a serious Duke Nukem to be able to maintain interesting and badass conversations.

I'm quite worried about this pseudo level designer they hired, the maps are poorly done and have no real innovation or attractiveness to them. Also check these shots of bugs that can be found at his levels:
You are NOT supposed to be there, but levelord would've fitted better for that phrase:
I'm really...really worried.

You survived a fall? That is a nasty bug.
Is that from Quinn Del Hoyo? I can't see the other guy's site.
Also, at least Quinn makes no mention of working for 3DR now, so I am not sure you can say that they are working on DNF now. What source is there for this statement? Without a source, there is no way of knowing.

I survived a fall...yes...INTO THE EMPTY VOID which is shown in the second shot. I'm actually standing on an invisible volume which should be a "Kill player volume" instead.

I think the qualification is not the real problem. The problem is, that young developers worked only on new projects, some of that new poor games, that were made only to get money. But it's really hard to find skilled "old-school guys"... And huge developer teams is also not so good, because everyone is working only on a little part of the project. So there are not many people who think about making games for gamers, something that is interesting to play, people only want to get money for their part of the work.

Well whatever the case maybe I'm sure George will figure something out to make the Levels look better and DNF Rock Hard, even if it takes long as you guys already know that story...

Why?
Is that single level the complete accumulation of his talents up to immediately before 3DR hired him?
If that is an Unreal 2003 level, that map could be as much as 5 years old.

Unreal 2004.
Still, If that were my portfolio I would make sure I wouldn't have maps with errors in it.
