No, it shouldn't. That is exactly why you get a lawyer. Caveat emptor.

That's just an excuse to make the victim responsible for the crime.

No, it's an excuse to make people preemptively and proactively responsible for any decisions that they may make so they don't run to Mommy Government for help at the expense of taxpayers.

I don't know about you but if I was ever in a position where I was making a financial transaction that could potentially reach that magnitude (and that is the ONLY type of situation in which your example is practical or feasible) the first person I would be talking to before my pen even hits parchment would be my attorney. Contracts are full of legal jargon ironically enough to stop people from clogging courts with endless questions about vagueness or openness issues with contracts

I think the validity went out the window long ago when it comes to legal. Being more "precise" with legal docs has just made it even easier to hack the system rather than to adhere to the spirit of what the contract, bill, law, etc was trying to say. And the idea that people might have the shell out $100's every time an EULA comes up on their screen, or they go out to buy a cell phone, is ridiculous. But in some cases, it's sadly necessary. The Origin ToS for example. And this type of thing is probably only going to get worse as time goes on, as the noble search for more clever ways to manipulate people continues.

You never "played doctor" with the neighbor girl when you were a kid?

Well you didn't miss out on anything. It was clumsy and awkward.

What's so bad about polygamy if it's transparent for everyone involved?

I can see it being a logistical nightmare when it comes to court battles for child custody, parental rights, divorces, employer healthcare plans, government handout programs. Having so many people in the mix can't be good for those things. Probably more things I could think of, but this was just a first thought.

I doubt because of those things it is considered somewhat a taboo.

I had to read that twice, because at first all I could think about was, "This is just how much Michael Bay pussified the franchise."

Right I've been avoiding this thread like the plague, as I thought it could lead to what's happened: a HUGE debate. Now I was gonna try to comment in a way I thought would calm everyone down, and get on with each other....... But I'm seriously confused I know I've missed something as this thread was something about a split-screen mod or something, in which someone said "gay" leading WW3 am I right so far guys?

Now if I'm right, did the mods change the thread title or something? Someone mentioned splitting the thread, but I'm at sea here guys, I know perfectly well I've made myself look like a total idiot saying this, but I don't get it and since I'm more or less always happy and positive, I promise my comments won't cause an air strike lol :)
The best way to calm down a thread is not posting, especially if you have (obviously) missed or avoided to read important stuff and your questions will only stir up people to repeat their arguments again and again.

The thread got split from the split-screen mod thread because some assclown not only called it gay, which I think some of us would have let slide if he had not continued on to ramble about how being gay was wrong. It was completely out of left field and uncalled for.

This thread DID get its title changed though. It described HOW it got detached from the original thread and why. And then someone recommended the thread get retitled to what it is now, which I thought for sure was just going to fuel the fire more, which it did. Much in the same way a thread about U.S. healthcare got renamed something more flamewarish, and lo and behold, became more flamewarish.

Here I thought people (especially around here) liked being irrational flamers and that no one around here would want any thread to be calmed down. Because you know.. certain people get their rocks off from being as abrasive as possible. Which is why I tend to avoid threads like this. I think rationality is becoming in short supply these days especially on the internet where everyone wants to be right at all times no matter what.

Ironically, the "debate" discussions here and formerly on 3DR, usually show far more intelligence than what I've seen on any other gaming forum.

I imagine most of the Duke4net community to sit at clean desks, wearing top hats and sporting monocles and wearing white gloves while typing rational and well though out responses to current affairs threads. I honestly don't see how it could be any other way.

To summarize, duke4.net is a Gentlemen's Club.

I think Duke is hogging them all, somewhere backstage.
