ROTT DOSBox Install problem  "ROTT needs a DOSBox launcher like the Build engine games."

#1

Hey. I tried to install Rise of the Triad from DOSBox. And all I get is an error/crash like this: Attached Image: ROTTDOS.jpg

Although I have the GOG.com version of ROTT. It uses DOSBox 0.72 and it's game music is barley audible. Can Skulldog make a DOSBox launcher to upgrade it's DOSBox emulator from 0.72 to 0.74? Thanks.

If skulldog isn't around, i'll try to make an updated dosbox launcher for ROTT, but i think it doesn't change the music problem.
Did you try to change the music settings in the setup file ?

Go to sound settings in the setup file and for sound set it to...

Soundblaster or compatible
- Port 220
- IRQ 7
- DMA 1
-16 bit DMA
- 8 voice
-Stereo
-16 bit mix

For music set it to...

General Midi
-330

Then pump up the volume in setting till you can hear it. Hope this helps.

The soundblaster setup had a conflicting IRQ so it didn't work. As for the General Midi setup, It made the music volume better.

Try IRQ 5.
