A huge database of free games  "Plus some other links to free gaming websites"

Recently I've stumbled upon this really huge database of free games of all flavours (quite handily split into categories):
Megazell's Free And Legal PC Games List

I'd say it's easily the most comprehensive list of all I've encountered so far. Links to other free gaming websites are also available.

Also, some other websites to check out:
http://libregamewiki.org/Main_Page
http://osgameclones.com/
http://planet.freegamedev.net/
http://www.caiman.us/
http://www.curlysworldoffreeware.com/
http://www.freepcgamers.com/

Everything is free online.
It's just up to your morals if you really want to profit from everything put online or if you chose to support some of the companies that have their products put online for free by various individuals like me, for ex.
So I don't really get where your "free stuff! +1 " enthusiasm comes from but I don't plan to understand either.

That is taking the metaphor to its obvious extreme, because with that logic, if someone accidentally leaves their car unlocked for a few minutes when they head into the store, that car and everything inside the car is "free stuff" for passers-by. Yet the car's driver clearly never intended for that to happen. Similarly, people who produce online software at cost (usually) never intend for people to profit from it by having their software torrented or keygenned. The only reason why there is the perception of freedom online is because the ability to enforce piracy is severely limited, but if that enforcement was more widespread, it would be just as fruitful as attempting to steal a car - that is, not at all, because you would eventually be caught.

So, failed attempt to be clever on your part.

Nice list, though some of the links are dead or outdated, like the daggerfall one (not that it matters)

Okay, Uziana.com is not a very good one, because when I looked in the Action section, it gave me a link to Penumbra. PENUMBRA IS NOT A DAMN ACTION GAME. Go ahead and try to kill all the monsters with a shotgun; I'm sure you'll piss yourself from how much like Duke Nukem it is :(

Absolutely wrong. If you steal something from real life, you leave the victim without the object that you stole!
Online, nobody is stealing anything.
Online, people that take everything for free, are people that would not buy the said thing anyway.
The real pirates that should be prosecuted, are the ones that take a game for free from a torrent, burn it on a blank dvd and then resell it for their own profit!
When you decide that you have the money to buy a game/app and just when you are about to go to the store to buy it, you decide to pirate it instead just because you can, then you have a morale problem.
Software can be cloned with 0 costs and as many times as it's needed.
Piracy is not theft, piracy is just a form of free trial.
To censor data flow online, is not your job, it's the job of it's creators!
You have the wrong idea about piracy and I'm in no way here to try and change it.
This is an old subject and every time it get's brought up, there are always 2 sides with strong opinions that oppose each other.

As a prominent opposer of censorship, I will continue to promote open source and free data flow for as long as I live.
Piracy is acceptable for me and the people that think like me as long as it's not performed in a morally questionable way!
If companies can't defend their software properly, then their data shall be openly accessible to everybody!
if companies can't defend their data and everybody pirates their data, then that company needs to decide if they can still afford to exist and it's not our problem if they go bankrupt, it's their problem!
A company that produces quality products, shall always receive enough fan support, in order to be motivated to continue and produce more!

So to answer your question.
I was not attempting to be clever.
I don't need to try and be clever with such themes, on a forum that has nothing to do with this type of stuff.
I was just stating my beliefs as I'm a relatively prominent advocate of piracy in my spare time and I actively contribute to the game scene or what you might call release groups which some of the mods of this site can also confirm if needed.
I'm very proud with my position towards the entire system and more than everything I love to know that I'm contributing to sharing everything for free for others to obtain it if they so desire.
So, the joke is on you if you thought I was trying to expose my cleverness when in fact I was just stating the obvious there and to a relatively small audience too.
I'm a dedicated and proud far right Iron Guardist in everything I do, both internet and physical life and I'm also very historically accurate with my favorite legion's creeds and value systems!

Um, Mr.Deviance, I think by free the people on here mean legally free. Other things are, I suppose, all free, but there are sometimes consequences to taking them, and with CISPA rolling in on July 12, then "free" online things that aren't entirely legal will be punishable by legal actions.

CISPA is for USA, not for me.

Frankly you are overestimating that another anti-piracy act. These laws won't be able to stop piracy, and that was never their only focus considering what they propose. Maybe they will close your website that constains no illegal content for containing illegal content if you had spoke bad words about this act.

While I find myself in agreement with you, I wonder why you downvoted my post.

I prefer Abandonware

http://www.hotud.org/

good site. if the company still exists in some form, they're pretty good about not hosting the software unless they do completely abandon it

To avoid unnecessary confrontation, let's put it this way: there's software that is officially licensed for free distribution - be it free from the start, or liberated - and there's software that doesn't have such license, regardless of whether you can or can't download it free of charge anywhere. This topic is about sites dealing in software of the first kind. The existence of such sites does not, in any way, have anything to do with piracy - after all, I tend to agree that using pirate software or not is ultimately the moral choice of each person. The websites that I've listed, on the other hand, neither condemn nor encourage software piracy, so let's leave it at that.

Besides, there are lots of quality products that have been from the start developed under a GPL license and therefore just can't be pirated at all.

I vote up or down posts I like or I dislike. If it was me who downvoted you, I guess it's because I found your analogy lame.

Other than that by default I always downvote posts complaining about the voting system.

I think I haven't mentioned these two yet (although I fancy they are pretty well known):
