Yeah, if Sega were smart they would get a really good Western developer involved in the AVP license and just go nuts. Give the game honest to god strategy: turret placement, honor kills, using vents to get around the level, breaking down doors, the whole cocooning process (not in real time of course), balanced weapons, class selection, multiple modes of play, etc. WITH Mod tools on launch day.
AVP 2 by Monolith got some of these things right, but I think the technology just wasn't there yet. I really hope Rebellion doesn't get another chance with the license. Gearbox's Colonial Marines may be good, but the multiplayer just looks like TDM with Aliens and Marines and it could've been so much more. Make ya' a bet there won't be mod tools either.
