Carmageddon 1 & 2 devs want your money on kickstarter for a sequel NOW!
#1 Posted 08 May 2012 - 08:14 AM
This is our chance to show our true Carmageddon fandom.
The guys at Stainless can't or don't want to use publishers to fund a new Carmageddon game because the publishers would censor the game big time and put silly deadlines.
So if you are an old carmageddon fan that wants the new sequel to not only exist but actually be awesome too, give these mother fuckers at Stainless $400.000 or at least $15 and they will make the game.
I hope this shit explodes everywhere and Stainless earns 1000000000000 bucks because they sure influenced my childhood A LOT with their 2 carmageddon games which like many other fans, I consider to be legendary!
If you haven't followed them on their relaunched carmageddon.com site, the guys that want to make this new sequel are the exact same dudes that made the first 2 games.
Their publisher from back then, ( SCi ) took away their rights to make a new Carmageddon game and after a few months SCi hired a new lame studio to make a shitty carmageddon sequel called TDR2000 that was almost unanimously hated among the Carmageddon 1 and 2 fans.
The leader of Stainless was so dedicated to keep this cool dev studio alive in the last 15 years and to get back the Carmageddon brand into their hands, that according to him, he actually went through with selling his house so he won't lose the studio and so he could acquire the brand again.
I love their talent and determination and they totally deserve the money so go for it if you are a carmageddon fan and a fan of great indie games made by old school devs.

I haven't even looked for years, are newer USB or some such joysticks being produced?

Only a few hundred thousand models
Not to mention that 360 and ps3 gamepads also have usb connectors.
The xbox 360 gamepads work natively on windows while the ps3 ones have a community made driver for them so they can also fully work on a pc.

Wait, so you were really referring to the actual joystics that look like this and not about gamepads?
Well then, yeah you can find shitloads of usb joysticks too no problem.
What puzzles me is why would you ever want to play a racing game with a joystick instead of a gamepad, or a keyboard or a steering wheel?
The joysticks are used for flight games which are very rare and far between these days.
The fact that you are used to play racing games with a joystick instead of a gamepad or keyboard, has nothing to do with age as far as I know.
Unless the last driving games you played were on comodore 64 or some arcades...
If you can't play newer racing games without a joystick, I have reason to believe that you just developed a rare and weird taste for playing racing games with a very improper peripheral that wasn't really designed for such game types.
To play racing games with a big ass joystick is almost as unusual as playing an fps game with the steering wheel and pedals.
It can be done but it's very pointless.
Sure the joystick works for racing games like it works for any other game, the problem is that nobody that developed racing games in the last 15 years, cared to tune their games to work properly with a joystick.

Unfortunately, I own the pre-USB version and have no way of connecting it to my PC.
Anyway, it's awesome to see their kickstarter is on track to meet the 400k goal.

I recommend others who actually plan getting them game regardless to throw in at least a $30 pledge, really, might as well pay for it (and an extra copy that comes along with it) now and get some extras, instead of inevitably paying for it later anyway when it's released, you know you

I wonder if the game will stick to the old classic num-pad controls for the PC keyboard... Personally I wouldn't mind, but of course customizable controls would be best, just to suit your own style of controls..!

You will be able to customize your controls and it will even support xbox 360 gamepad, it's confirmed!
Also if the kickstarter can reach 600.000 bucks instead of 400.000 they will also release the game on Mac and Linux!

Additionally, one of the new $25 tiers over at Carmageddon Reincarnation's Kickstarter page, you can get those games for free over at gog.com ..! Well... Technically you aren't... Since you are still paying a pledge for their project, but all for the better for the new game, plus you get the previous rewards as well..!
Either that, or you can simply buy them from gog.com when it's been released there..!

I wish Stainless the best, I can't wait to see Carmageddon: Reincarnation, and what else they plan to release for the game, or new future Carmageddon projects..!

Radio Shack sells a 15 pin to usb adaptor so you don't need to use the old midi/game controller port found on older pc's and audio sound cards.

Kickstater donators also get a free download of Camageddon 1 on iOS as a thanks for contributing. It's a slightly more upgraded version, wouldn't say it was HD, but it does look slightly improved over the original release.

Already wanted a new phone for a while, but this is more so of a reason to get one isn't it..?
Yeah it does look improved, the cars look all shiny and stuff, I'm honestly kind of missing the old pixelated graphics, but I don't mind the update, and it doesn't seem like much else has changed at all, the physics are all the same ..!
I hope Splat Pack will eventually become part of this mobile release, it doesn't seem to be at the moment anyway...
