Hello guys... I have a question and I want your opinions and long responses and discussions :lol:

So is it possible to make in Duke Nukem 3D(or Build Engine) something like Metal Gear Solid, I know that mostly textures and sprites would be piece of cake compared to AI of the enemies or something...

Anyways I dont want to say that we should make a Build port of MGS but maybe something similar, currently hostiles/enemies can "see"/detect you even if you crawl or walk while you are literaly behind them, that kinda anoying and it dosent allow sneaking or some stealth and suprise kills...

There are some mods with some usefull scripts and features and something like that...

I want to say is something like Metal Gear Solid is possible in Build Engine?

Yeah you just have to put the work in. It would be easier with the modern EDuke than it would with the classic BUILD.

There was a mod back in the day that replicated the style and gameplay of the MGS VR Missions.

LeoD... Why not yes? ...

Jinroh... Do you have a file/zip or a link of that mod and if it is possible to play it without DN3D but with eDuke32 or earlier? I hope that it would be usefull to see if it could be used by for most modders that want some realism and that... Give me the link or file !! I am eager to see it!!!!

Replicating the gameplay itself should be doable and could turn up some good results, but honestly you are wasting your time if you want to port the game itself verbatim to Duke. I would suggest sticking with the gameplay, then just working on maps and CON code to make a mod using Duke theme and assets.

Porting a game is really stupid. Do something more original, even if it's in the MGS universe, make up a new story.

A new story where Solid Snake, Duke Nukem, and Snake Logan team up would be awesome. It could be an action stealth blast'em up. :3

I can give you an idea for your game plot.
How about you take all the classic game characters and make a guerrila squad and put them on a mission to penetrate the compound of id Software HQ or Gearbox HQ, which one you please and assassinate everybody there.
It could be a corridor shooter with levels.
At the end of each level, you get to take the elevator up one more level until you reach the CEO Boss and torture him for what ever reason you want to add there in the plot.

Now let's not create too awesome of a concept here, or some company lawyer will throw a shitty fit and want it sealed in a C&D box for all eternity.

He's clearly just interested in getting more flexibility out of the AI, beyond "can't see Duke - do nothing/can see Duke - kill" so that stealth gameplay isn't out of the question. Honestly, sometimes...
