From what there is so far, it looks like there is potential for a good map. There are two things that bothered but which have already been stated before : make the map less dark (I had to put "ambient lights" to max in eduke's settings even though I usually keep it to 1.00), and make it so that the starting explosion hurts Duke but without killing him (putting him down to 15-ish HP should be the best solution if you keep the medipack on the car).

I have never released a map (and probably never will), but I have made plenty of mods, and sometimes it seems right to release WIP versions along the way, even though it spoils stuff. Of course, spoiling a mod that is based on coding, and spoiling a map aren't quite the same thing. But I believe the motivation for releasing early WIP versions is the same. It's a way of getting early feedback, which can be motivating and helpful. The only time I would object to someone doing that is if they are starting multiple threads about the same map (one thread for development and another for release is OK though).

What I find annoying is when people post a huge number of screenshots. At least when someone is only posting the map file, you can avoid the spoiler by not downloading it.


True, I want to release my WIP map or post plenty of screenshots sooo much.
But if I do so, I would ruin the surprise, or people get annoyed.
This would ruin all the hard work I've already done.
So I just post screenshots for design stuff asking sometimes and give test maps to chosen people.

Haha yeah, when I was working on the TROR CBP (parkade.map) I was dying to post some screenshots, but I resisted knowing that people would be more impressed seeing the new geometry for the first time in person, so to speak.

Yeah, we shouldn't do the same miskake like most big games companies make today:
Posting screenshots and videos of alpha and beta and in the end it will be beta for ever.
