Nuked Crysis "Crytek mapping, a snap shot"

I thought perhaps it deserves a new topic after all.
Duke Nukem 3D 1996

He used to map for Half-Life and moved on to Crytek

he is looking for a team, coders and what not, accepts brand new people for as long as they are willing to learn and do. No official announcement, just a guy having fun mapping.

Looks cool but... once it starts to truly resemble Duke Nukem how will they not get shut down? I'm not sure what the goal is. Are they making one map or a whole game/TC recreating Duke 3D? Or are they just taking inspiration and making something totally different?
There's a 99% chance this will end up like all the other (oddly foreign made) mods based on existing properties.
I definitely appreciate you making a new topic, though.

He posted the stuff at Gearbox Forum. And there are no models let alone a game in the works. Once he has a team, well, he can take over from Interceptor perhaps. As I wrote before, it's not an anouncement for a game, just something I think the Duke community might be interested in, for whatever reasons.

Oh, that would be great.

I'm thinking it's dead. There has been no progress for at least a month.
Two big things:
1. It's just a map. It looks amazing, but it's a big step from creating a map that looks like Hollywood Holocaust to a game that actually plays like DN3D. Think monster AI, movment mechanics and even stuff like how to implement the shrinker. There is no sign that he's even started to think about any of that yet.
2. If he does get his act together, some twat will send him a C&D order (that's if they haven't already).

I thought so too. He did not post any new images for 6 month, and posted some new one's on April. It's not dead, just slow. My problem is that I made commitments here and can not start helping him coding with the crytec engine.
He needs a coder and a modeller, then he can fly doing the maps. And you know the trick "If you build it they will come".
As for Gearbox - who cares. Sure, the first map looks dangerously close to Duke. But it does not have to be the Duke we all know. It could be the King from the South or whatever. Gearbox and (3D Realms) own the trade name Duke Nukem, not run down movie theatre, hookers, aliens, pistol, shot gun etc.
Look at the time stamp I posted that. Obviously I will no longer promote any involvement with Gearbox.
