I love a good conspiracy theory, do you?

Your thoughts on all this?

I think there is nothing strange or not a big secret that 3DR is pushing for 2008 release or early 2009. It makes most sense, they showed teaser, tech window etc. I would be really suprised if they are no pushing to release DNF in a year.

The whole point of the story was that its not "official" announcment by 3DR, that they dont promise anything yet, like DBJ maybe made it seem.

George and Scott shared some thoughts with the press but apparently this turned against them. This may cause George and Scott to be more tight lipped in the future and this will result less information for us, the fans. I mean that when you share some inner thoughts of yours with a few people who they turned you in, the next thing you want to do is go and hide and stop talking at all.

Bottom line, 3DR should overcome this, learn their lessons and let it behind. The info about DNF (and future projects) should continue to flow and the press/media is the mean.

Oh well, let's see what we get at E3 officially this time.

I didn't really like it. I want info as much as anybody, but this just felt like stolen info. It's like being given cash that was stolen and feeling strange about having it, late alone spending it. It's dirty information.

Here is an mp3 with a part of S.Miller/DBJ interview about the DNF release date:
http://ll.bizjournals.com/audio/dbj_interv...er_3drealms.mp3

Transcribed:
Webster: Ideally, we’d like to spotlight some of the projects coming out in 2008: Ghostbusters, Rage, Borderlands, and maybe it’s just hopeful on my part, Duke Forever. Of course, you don’t have to tell me when it’s coming out. I know how…

Miller: It might make this year. We can’t make any sort of official announcement. We’re pushing for this year. Frankly, I think we’re going to miss it by just a by a few months, but it’s definitely an internal push.

I think what I mean is even though we were all looking forward to and were thinking we'd see it around within a years time, it sort of cheated us out of an official announcement.

Rather than suddenly getting official word via some sort of great release or something, now some assholes at a newspaper ruined it. Like any excitement on their part on releasing info could be damaged as well, so they'll probably have less enthusiasm for any kind of later release of info, let alone the full trailer.

I think scott now looks like an idiot after calling them liars, then they showed the proof :) The worse thing they could've done is publish that oficial statement from George on the website, he should've embraced the situation and go along with it instead of denying anything, now it's all just a mess.

Right for now it is a mess, but it just comes to show you that DNF will make it this year or the next. Cool right?

The thing is we have no idea, what exactly Scott called them liars for. Especially since the DBJ edited the original story so many times.

Now, why did they give them a new DNF screenshot of the Cycloid emperor? I think all this fiasco is fake and made up by 3DR to bring more people. Now we can all consider everything said in the article as oficcial. At least we can all agree now that DNF is closer than ever.

Ever considered that screenshot was given to them BEFORE the fiasco ? In connection with the interview it self ?

That is possible. The screen was given to put in the article about the game. Stuff said "off the record" was printed and 3DR got pissed, but you can't withdraw your screen once it has been given since it is bound to be printed anyway (hell, they printed the "off the record" stuff)

BUT it seems they have more info about DNF than they had before, otherwise they wouldn't make you pay to see the info.

The DBJ said that there hits/business went through the roof once they made mention of DNF. I'll just put it like this: the DBJ/DNF "story" seems like a pro-wrestling storyline and some of you are getting "worked". ;)

Awesome screenshot. :)

Sorry, but I think this shot is completely unimpressive. It's gameplay trailer or nothing for me at this point. These half-pint, postage stamp thumbnails just don't cut it anymore.

3DR didn't make it for you to be impressed tho, it's just another pic to show that they are more confident showing stuff.

What bothers me tho is...will they show EVERYTHING from the game with a million screenshots, 3053063 videos and all that crap? I want to be surprised after all these years, not see everything before playing the damn game.

When we finally got Prey it was kind of something where the game was called "Prey" but it wasn't really seeming to have anything to do with the original Prey aside from maybe the portals. To me it didn't quite have the authentic feeling.

So to some degree I think I have a similar fear with DNF. As it has been said, this isn't a project that was 10 years in the making so to speak. They maybe spent 10 years trying to make it but in the end what we will get is a project that started a few years ago.

So I'm kind of worried we'll get a game called "Duke Nukem Forever" that will be starring Duke Nukem, but it will end up having some of the "in name only" artificial feeling that Prey had.

I'm not saying that I expect this to happen, but despite believing it will kick ass in one way or the other it tends to cross my mind every now and then.

Forget Prey it's made by 3DR but not like Duke, Duke Nukem Forever is definitely going to be more highly anticipating as the Art Director said before awhile back:

Do you feel pressure knowing that you are working on such a highly anticipated and iconic title?

Tramell - Yes, there is a massive amount of pressure that goes along with the name. “It is what it is”, Right Blaw-Dog? “It’s the nature of the beast”…Scanny, can I get a slow clap ;-) (My guys from SOE know what I’m talking about) But what can you do? We are trying to create something that the majority of people will enjoy. We hope the fans appreciate our efforts as much as we appreciate their support.

Keep the faith, DNF will ROCK hopefully dudes.

Then just dont watch trailers and screenshots and dont read info. :) Its not like 3DR is forcing you to do so.

Anyway, i hope to see full trailer in the next 2-3 months. Cause i dont thint its good idea to show it in summer. Summer tends to be kinda off-season for computer gaming etc. Everybody is outside and not so much behind computers you know.

Summer is still good for it, since E3 is around that time too. And yes where is that article?
