DNF DLC!

#1

So, DLC has been announced -- new weapons, new SP levels, and whatever else you expect from DLC. At least, it's in production. Jon St. John has confirmed this. "There will be special add-on packs and features, including... I don't know if I am allowed to talk about this or not... something that may involve singing. I'll leave it at that." (Source!)

The question is, will you buy it, or has the game disappointed you too much to give it a chance? Frankly, I think the game gets TONS better after The Hive. Although it's not innovative or very impressive in any regard, it's entertaining enough. However, I'm probably only going to buy the proposed third DLC with the SP levels, since I can't find many people on MP. Hell, not even my friends have the game, really. It's the exact same dilemma I have with Duke3D from XBLA.

Also, while I'm talking about the game, I'd really like to see Gearbox Software make a sequel, but turn it down a bit. Dilute the babes and minigames, but step up the action, the exploration and the pace.

Anyway, I'll shut up now and stay on topic. DLC - yes, no, maybe?

We already knew there were going to be certain DLC packs way before they were announced because it was described in some of the game files. Something to do with the first adding new weapons, the second adding new multiplayer stuff, and the third adding new singleplayer levels. This isn't news.

Wake me up when they actually showcase the content of the DLC.

It's a rumor not an announcement. But I'd only buy single player DLC.

i think id do the same too. the Singleplayer DLC sounds much more enticing that the rest does. to expand on the game, and possibly be getting the stuff they cut would be cool. IF we get to go to space and fight the Overlord at the end that would make it worthwhile!!

We in the "First access club" will get the first (weapons) pack for free, and I'll definitely buy the single player DLC. The MP maps pack depends on how much it costs, I like the MP but none of my friends got the game (yet) so I don't know how much I'll get out of it.

I got the email as well and I thought it said that we'd get the first multiplayer DLC for free, which is actually the second DLC pack. If I'm wrong, I'll come back and edit this post.

the very first Duke Nukem Forever multiplayer downloadable add-on for free!

I don't buy DLCs separately. This only entices me to not buy the game until the complete edition is on sale somewhere.

I hope they don't cancel the DLC because of the reviews. We'll see if DNF did well by seeing how much DLC they make.

I don't think they'll cancel it. For every bad review out there there's a shitload of people who think the game is awesome. :D

Like the other parts of the sp game? Genius. I'd actually like Gearbox to make something this time.

Well Area 51 is in. Hopefully space levels too.

In the end, reviews doesn't matter if the game sells well.
And apparently it's selling well.

Are they seriously gonna release 15 single player maps, or am i missing something? How many maps did the regular single player include?

22?! oOo

Yes 15 level is about 3/4 of the main game. Sounds too good to be true!

Eh, I'll buy all the DLC. I'm milking this game for everything it has.

I hope it's similar to the Quake II / Doom3 BFG.

If they do cancel the DLC - it won't be because of reviews... not directly. It will because of sales and if they think if they will be able to sell enough of the DLC to recover the cost of production and make a profit.

If they release SP DLCs, I'll definitely buy the first one. With the DNF monkey finally off of the backs of the developers, and with some fresh confidence, some fresh blood, some fresh feedback and criticism from the fanbase, and with GB no longer directing, I'm very curious to see what sort of experience they come up with. If I like it, they're welcome to more of my money.

I doubt DLC will have new levels. Most likely levels that weren't completed before release.

It seems only a few sequences were cut from areas we've already visited. I would guess you could bet half of locations we've already visited (Duke's Mansion, Duke Burger, and the Casino) and a few new places.

so fucked up, always announcing a dlc so fast lol, milking!

naive gamers support this crap no wonder they can milk milk milk.

This was known around the time the demo came out.
The first DLC is for free for all FAC members, don't know about the second and third.
I'd give anything for the SP maps, space levels, area 51 levels.

Also, announcing is something else than releasing.
If they would have released it so quick, that would be milking, not vice-versa.

I think that game was almost ready just before lawsuit came and when gearbox got their hands to duke, they had to cut stuff from it for 3 DLC.
I dont know what is take-two getting from duke, but it definetely ruined our experience with this game.

So, when PC players got screwed with console guys T2 & Gearboxter, things got very bad.

If they already have a contract it's unlikely the DLC will be canceled. However, it remains a possibility. Based on how the sales are trending I do not believe the game will receive long term support (multiple patches, improved dedicated servers, mod tools, etc.). Keep in mind it costs a ton of money to release anything on Xbox Live, even patches. Last I heard it was $10,000 per SKU.

After more than 2 weeks only 285,000 units have sold worldwide. Now compare that to AvP3, which sold almost double in the same span of time. Neither game was released with much competition.

Where did you get those numbers? Are you counting Steam sales?

Are you living in a box or something ?
It was number 2 seller in USA and number 1 in the UK.
