My Multiplayer section "come join in on the fun"
#1 Posted 12 June 2011 - 06:06 AM
This game kicks ass, and getting into the multiplayer is easy and fun, when i dont have big lag issues.
there are afew points though ill make regarding this:
PRO'S.
1. Good levels including HOLLYWOOD HOLOCAUST
2. Same mechanics as the full game
3. fast paced adreniline non stop action.
CON'S.
1. Lag issues..
2. Hollywood Holocaust Isn't what we remember, its all boarded up and changed... but it's ok.
3. The guy with the Devastator is king, yes there are tactics around this but it is hard.
4. Some areas that your meant to be able quickly jump on or into can give you trouble, like not letting you get onto something or into a window sometimes... esp the hollywood holocaust windows near the crate at the start!!! i died there heaps as i fought to just climb that area..
Overall this is a fun experience..
im getting decent points, but for the most part people walk over you to get there digs all collected over you. ive gotten afew, such as the Battlelord Plaque, but it will take me ages to get everything as there are some people there just mapping out the area & then camping etc.
Overall i give multiplayer a 7/10. my steam name is coheedandcambria1982
Collecting all the digs will be worth all the swearing im gonna have to yell to get through this!

You shouldn't even be playing with such a ping. Pretty much anything over 50 is bad.
Anyone know where the hell the Jetpack is in Hollywood?

Sure.. Its in the secret windowed building thats opposite the "innocent" sign.. by secret i mean dn3ds version its not a secret here, just open windows.. there are viewing screens and i think a steroids container also the JETPACK
Man am i fucking pissed at the moment..
some1 im playing with in duke burger named Murdok or something is friggn cheating!
i aint no whinner... However its just me & him, yet he gets me over and over. the level is big enuf with Plenty of cover........ yet as soon as start again guess what hes in my face with a fucking freezeray or devastator.
i absolutely love multiplayer with people who have respect im all up for sneaky kills etc etc.. but to totally dog u constantly shit! im considering fraps to film this bastard making a mockery of this multiplayer!! thereis a line that ya dont cross and this guy is surely using some sort of friggn god cheat or something i swear!
Anyways, if anyone else has similar experiences they'd like to address add here please

It's in the same place it was in the original hollywood haulocaust; behind the cinema screen in the theater.
However I'm having a hard time finding the jetpack in Duke Burger.

The jetpack in the multplayer level Duke Burger can be found by following these steps:
1: Go to where the microwave is and face opposite the corner towards the middle of the room.
2. To your left, there's a ramp, go up that and keep following the shelf until you meet a ledge and you're facing another corner of the room. ]
3. The jetpack is in the corner, and you need to jump onto a picture frame or something to get across to it.
I hope that helps. Happy dukematching

Being up against another player with jetpack in such a game is a little frustrating though but still great fun.

Not everyone in the world has 1st class internet like you do, Australia & New Zealand pretty much can still be rated at 3rd world for internet.
I find it annoying in MP that when you die your trip mines go as well, this was not the case in Duke 3D.

i hear ya, i too wish the tripmines stayed.. then i would surely be the king of surprise killing people!

hehe, absolutely though the big part of Hollywood Holocaust is 2 items, the jetpack and the devastator, of course this doesnt make you invincible though, powerful yet vunerable to certain weaknesses...
A. you need fuel for the jetpack
B. re - supply your devastator ammo stock
C. and watch out for others with an RPG & invincible mode (which lasts not too long but long enuf to kamikazee someone with a jetpack/devastator combo!! the casino is great too. yet to try out other levels, but cant wait for more duke action

And look, IVE spent more time that him.. and yet compare the two scores his vs mine.... kinda puts a downer on MP but i trust many people here to do the right thing, Just not long ago, maybe 15 mins ago, some guy helped me through most of the levels in MP taking me thru the process of getting the Secret areas! Thanks Stanley!

Time spent playing is a very poor indicator of skill. I have been a top-3 player in every single DNF multiplayer round I've played so far even though I've spent less than two hours playing the multiplayer mode. On the other hand I see (in many games) tons of people who have played countless of hours and yet are always below average.
As a general rule, 95% of those you think are cheating aren't. I have played multiplayer games for hundreds of hours and I have seen only a few dozen cheaters whileas accusations of cheating are a thousand times more common.

Dude, I've played Team Fortress 2 for 858 hours, and am still mediocre at it with the occasional burst of Pro. Time played has little to nothing to do with skill after a certain point.
#22 Posted 13 June 2011 - 01:42 PM
the map designs are awful, health regen makes battles last about a second, its dominated by the rpg and devestator,it lags and most inventery is useless
#23 Posted 13 June 2011 - 08:03 PM
ok im not the best at multiplayer and lag can sometimes make a mockery out of me.
but id like to think im not to bad. yes time spent is one thing, you saw the screenshot. and there is no denying the odd KD.
hell what ever helps him/her sleep at night. i just go in to have fun, but in dnf multiplayer ive seen more people dominating the maps than any other multiplayer ive done.
Oh and yes got my duke nukem games showing back up at steam, ive just never had that problem before is all.
thanks.

Hey man, dont mean to be a pain, but why is it when i go online my duke nukem forever game appears but not in offline mode then?
Ok the demo.. understandable. but now with my full game i dont want to only be able to do this online..
do i mess with the games properties or steam settings? thank you.

Lol. it's not upto me the ping number i get. i dont have a proper internet connection, i have a pre-paid usb Telstra Broadband i only put $50 on it every two or 3 weeks. id think people with a regular connection might have a better ping than me. Also my ping being 1 here i see it reach 500 sometimes, not for long i admit, but there are alot of times that Depending on what server i join to play a game of MP i have terrible lag. just sometimes i get a decent go without lag, thats not cheating. but i see what you mean by time spent doesnt nessessarily equal skills, the ppl i fought in that leaderboard shot were actually quite skilled. i was just lucky.
#28 Posted 14 June 2011 - 08:33 PM
oh well. no messing with the dev console now.

Good sir, i know all too well what you mean by Devastator hogs.. they fail to grasp at any other method or tactic of MP. Now combine this with the jetpack and those people can really get on your nerve. Luckily i have afew tactics that are tried & proven to help you subdue such a threat.
1. know your map
2. find tripmines, then set traps at or on the route to the devastator.
3. yeah it's DM but hey you can always voice to others playing & gang up on the hog to bring the map back to all fairness!
4. theres usually at least 2 devastator points, so grab your own and unleash fury..
5. always trust the shotgun, especially with the double damage trait & the alcohol bottle (invincible) combo at close range to subdue that little ****.
I know more but its hard to think of all the tactics at the moment.
Believe me, i know the frustration of starting and being blown up by a devastator hog. ESPECIALLY a devastator camper!
