So obviously, somebody either found a younger Duke model that is a left over in the game, either something is really fucked up here.
I believe that the model on the left is the model that everybody called too young when the first media came out, so gearbox aged his model a bit and that's what we have in the game right now. In the process they probably forgot to delete the younger model that they were experimenting with.
Who knows, maybe there are multiple models inside the archives. Maybe you can even find the 2007 teaser model which would be sweet!
I know for fact that the Duke Nukem busts from the hidden penthouse, use the 2007 teaser model.
If anybody ever wants to remake the 2007 teaser Duke so you can play with, you have a very solid base to start from.
The huge statue that the pigcops are trying to bring down in the trailer and the Duke Nukem busts, all use the 2007 teaser model retextured.

Doesn't anybody else find it extremely funny that Duke Nukem looks almost 30 in the game, yet his decorative busts from his penthouse look like he is 50?

Me too. All they had to do is give it higher res textures for everything and it was ready for use.
Like I said, the 2007 teaser model is still in the game in the form of the statue.
You have the teaser if you need textures for it. All that you need to do is import the statue model, retexture it and rig it


Scratch all of that, I fucking realized something.
The crazy motherfuckers actually left the 2007 model with god damn textures inside the game and used it as spinning statue!
If it's possible to rig the model and replace the existing one with a new one, I will personally try this myself if nobody will want to try it.
Now you have to be fucking crazy not to attempt to rig it to the skeleton of the current model and try to turn it into a playable model

Oh yeah, I remember climbing that statue while playing the Vegas demo. That's actually one of the puzzles early on in the game.

Strange how we havent seen other Duke models appear if thats the case though, like the AfroDuke model we saw in the multiplayer demo!

I thought about something, maybe the left model is the one used in Duke3d game in DNF (first level in demo) - a young model,
and after "12 fucking years" Duke looks older then he was 12 years before.

Yes, but that was done clipping from the bathroom of the stadium to the mansion. I doubt the actual Duke model is morphed while ingame.

What I'm trying to say... is that you get into Duke's mansion to see yourself in the mirror in the second picture BEFORE defeating the cycloid (using cheats). If you kill the cycloid and transport to your mansion then I would understand. But No scripted even ocurred between being in the bathroom of the stadium and going to the mansion to see the mirror. I repeat, I doubt the model morphed into "recent" Duke just by flying wih NOCLIP into the mansion.

The thing is with covers like those is that they're artist's impressions of characters, and it's hard (Particularly back when TTK was released) to create a character that resembles that exactly. If they'd done a DNF cover with the actual Duke model in a more flattering pose then people wouldn't have had this mindless "Duke's too young" problem. Instead they went with an artist rendering of the current model and we wound up with this debate, but hindsight's 20/20.

In the demo when I look in the first broken mirror from the bathroom I see the model where he looks older not younger.
How did you come to the conclusion that he is using 2 models?
