Enough is enough: DNF is Daikatana 2 "Just... just stop the madness already."

You can pretend shooting was average, at best. You can pretend the QTE weren't awkward, and forced. You can pretend the driving wasn't god-awful. You can pretend the controls weren't off, jerky, that the EGO meter didn't feel slapped on. That the guns felt right, and the enemy placement flowed well. That pushing carts is cool. You can pretend.
Or you can just stop fucking kidding yourself.
It SUCKED, okay? You KNOW it SUCKED. At this point, I have lost all sympathy for die hard Duke fans. When this comes out, and anyone would bother to defend it, I know that madness has ultimately settled in. I mean, I know there are guys who have been on these forums constantly, for almost its entire development. My heart goes with you, such guys, because this is probably gonna be some pain you're not gonna get over easily.
So, I say, to such fans, stop appending the years. Stop trying to defend this, now that YOU KNOW what to expect. Turn back, foster other interests, don't invest any more time into this. You know you shouldn't. Let go of your pride, grab onto your life.
Only after you admit Duke broke your heart is when you can start to move on. And, I'm dead-serious, some of the fans here are going to need help moving on. Best of luck.

Dude, you played a buggy demo.....and you base all your views on the full game on it?

This....I played Daikatana, and this looks much better.....even if I did like Daikatana a wee bit for it's cult bad-movie quality.

But ask yourself : 12 years in development - you don't think they might want to put a little more polish on the demo? Or maybe it's just the game. Like, again, you want to give people a taste to buy it, not to make people consider cancelling the pre-order.
You should stop kidding yourselves, alright? At this point, I know any praise will probably be fan-boy attachment. If you really like it, then hey, fine. But if you don't, if you really really don't? Then don't kid yourself. That's all I'm saying. Just be honest with yourself.

Also, Diakatana wasn't that bad. Why do people hate on it? I played the demo not so recently and I don't remember it sucking as much as people make it out to be. I mean, sure, it isn't great, but that doesn't make it the standard for crappy games. Grant it, I can't think of a standard for crappy games. This kind of goes with that Uwe Boll thing but I can think of a standard for crappy movies.
That said, they obviously didn't put much effort into the demo and their marketing sucks balls. The game looks decent and I may eventually buy it (when I have money to spend and the price is right). Is it going to revolutionize gaming? No but that is OK. Is it all that people have been building up expectations for over the last 14 years? Of course not. Does that matter? Not really.
In the end, if the game is fun for a few hours of playing, some people will be satisfied.
Also, I kind of hate how people are taking this double standard here. Just because someone doesn't agree with your opinion on the game doesn't make them a troll. You don't agree on a single piece of software that will be forgotten in time...who cares?

But it should be kept in mind that this demo wasn't even designed for advertisement purposes.

The first level (which is in the demo) actually had some nice visuals. The rest of the game pretty much is a standard for crappy first person shooters.

It's a closed demo for the tiny fraction of potential DNF players who paid extra to belong to some stupid club.

I also found Duke's Penthouse, ran around and played around, very fun.
I think if this game comes out, none of the Duke fans will be dissapointed.
I do agree that this demo was one of the worst ways to market the game, but i bet the final game will be so much better than what i've played ( i've played six hours on a 30 min demo, damnit ).

I will be honest if it comes out and sucks...but you're basing crap on a buggy demo and passing such opinions off as if the full game is also this way and you know 100% for sure.

You're a bit confused there. They used it to entice pre-orders of DNF and Borderlands GOTY purchases. That's called advertising. It's not technically closed because the very same demo is going to be publicly released to everyone who did not pre-order or buy Borderlands. This isn't a beta test. It's a demo with the purpose to help sell the game.

i am a fanboy, though i have to admit there were few problems, but why not. how can a game like that be perfect? although when you say its comparsion is way off, you mean that daikatana was worse or DNF by large scale?

Good question. We’ll announced that very, very soon. The demo will absolutely come out before the game ships. All of the first access guys, all of them will be the first to get it and we are going to be taking care after those guys.
