So I've got a bit of a disk mystery. It's a copy of Doom collector's edition that I've had for who knows how long but have never really paid attention to, but the weird thing is it's not just Doom collector's edition. It's also got Serious Sam the Second Encounter, and some Dragon Ball Z game, so the SS game places it around 2002 at the earliest.

Has anyone ever seen anything like this before? I couldn't find any reference to such a disk on the internet. Btw out of curiosity how much might this be worth?

Edit: Ok this is weird, the dates all say modified around the yr 2000, but Serious Sam the Second Encounter came out in 2002?? I can't get it to work though.

Edit: New information reveals this might be some kind of illegal copy.
Here's the Serious Sam folder:

And here's the contents of the myth.nfo file:

This is an interesting bit:

You think you can contribute to the scene too? You have one or more
talents in:

- supplying NEW unreleased games (maybe you work at a game/util
magazine, courier delivery firm, newspaper, game press/marketing
company, distributor, publisher, duplicator, tv/radio show, shop,
warehouse, store etc.) You do not need a fast internet connection
for the above!

But at least they're nice people:

Quote

Support the software companies. If you play this game, BUY it!

However, that makes what's in the Serious Sam folder much more interesting since this copy may be from a year before the release.

Sounds like it's a bootleg disc.

Yeah, I updated the post with more information that points to that conclusion. Ah well, I guess it's not worth much then Posted Image

I'm looking into the Serious Sam game now since it dates from before the game's release. Nup, the game refuses to start installing. I swear I tried installing it in the past and the install worked but the game didn't open.

Lol i bought that dragon ball game when i was a kid, it sucked :)
It might be an illegally sold disc, my dad brought me about 20 homemade discs full of crappy games when i were a kid xD The best i got was redneck rampage, so not everything was shit.

Hey don't make me out to be a bad guy, I don't know how that disk came into my possession. For all I know it probably came free with an old PC. Never really played it though.

I'm so close to getting the Serious Sam game to work (I'm putting in extra effort because it might be some kind of early version which would be interesting). But it looks like I'm going to require a virtually simulated XP other than the basic crappy emulator that comes with windows 7.

It's just weird. Dragon ball z is not a fps game, it came out much later than the other games (2005 i think), and i don't think it has been sold for PC. Is it an iso file?

There's just a folder with some images and a setup.exe. 2005 eh?

So how come in the picture it says the folders were last modifed in 2000? Can they just change the dates for whatever reason?

I dunno what to think xD here is the game i am talking about.

According to Family Guy it may be easy to know if you are retarded, are you a creationist?

Or you watch Family Guy...that is a pretty good way to know if someone is retarded.

Well seeing as you are having a mid life crisis now at age 20, you won't get to see any further than 2032. :)

Only twenty more years? Thank jeebuses!

The funny thing is for me at least, it seems like the last 10 years of my life have shot through.

It feels more like four years or even two years.

The longest were zero to twelve then it began to speed up and never stopped.

I don't know where my 20's went.

It's odd for me, because I recognize that things indeed do appear to be faster, but there is no progress in my life. It's like I'm going faster and faster to nowhere. Everything runs together, I don't know whats going on anymore because nothing is going on. Doh.

Yeah it is odd, but at least you are aware of it, that I find can slow things down, the very act of being aware of time.

Sometimes you have to jump off the ride and try another one before things keep going too fast in one direction.

I'm trying. I work as much as possible, but since I don't have access to every day transportation (I borrow my dad's vehicle when he's not using it) I can't get a 'real' job. I do odd job stuff, but because the economy is shit nobody will pay you to do something they can do themselves. I also do recycling on the side, but aluminum cans can only bring so much. :)

Have you thought of moving? I moved to a different city when I was 19, I didn't know anybody but I managed to find work and build a new life for myself eventually. Even though I was scared to go I knew I needed a change.

The experience was great as you only have yourself and it makes you stronger I think because of this.

I was stuck in the same city with the same dumb friends who wanted to stay dumb and I got bored of all the bullshit so I changed things.

They are still my friends but when you go home after a while they seem like lost souls because they never did anything to try to change things, like in that movie "This Boys Life".

It's really hard to get decent work in my country too at the moment, I'm even getting turned down for working for free as there is so many other people in the same boat, who are willing to work for nothing just to get a better cv.

Trying to get a graphic design job but I need more experience, but it's hard when people won't even take you on for free as there are still really experienced people who will work for free too to get more contacts and experience.

I might have to go back to slaving as a chef for crap money and stupid hours. One year now without a job and it's driving me nuts.

I've undoubtedly thought about it, but I've got nowhere to go, no car, and very little money so the logical side of me is just like "well that won't work." You'll find any reason not to do something.

That's true, but I saved up a bit of money to cover a few weeks rent then got a bus to a different city. When you are there you find you have no choice but to make things work and they will.

It is too easy to do nothing sometimes.

In fairness my folks threw me a bit of money to start me off, so that helped.

Yeah, my dad can barely afford his own bills. But yer right, you make it work somehow. I'll stop being a sissy and figure something out eventually.

"Bitte, gehen Sie weiter" or "Gehen Sie weiter, bitte", more likely.

Yes, as I thought about it, weiter is separable. It should certainly be "Gehen Sie weiter." I really only studied German to read article for research, but I would like to be able to communicate with it. That just requires a lot more work than simply being able to read journal articles or chapters in books.

The German border is roughly over an hour from where I live, X-Vector lives in The Netherlands - so yes we're pretty close. Dunno about these other buffoons.
