In other other news:
There was an earthquake here in DC and although I wasn't sure it was an earthquake, people are saying it is a big deal since there aren't many here often. My old boss while I was living in the mid-west is from California so the one time there was a quake there he was asking why everyone was freaking out.

I would be freaking out if i where in D.C. at that time. None of those buildings are designed for earth quakes so it would be very dangerous if it was a large quake.

In other news Apple Fan-boys cry everywhere.

Seems the leader of the Canadian NDP party has passed away. He just got elected, shortly after got cancer, and died yesterday. Weird stuff.

Stop talking about Quake, this is a Duke Nukem forum! At least there's a hint of Duke it Out in DC in there.

This is a first world country, man. Every building is built to handle seismic events at least at a low level. 5.9 is nothing in a first world country with actual infrastructure and buildings with foundations. The older buildings suffered minor damage (one building on campus has some old chimneys that they think could fall through the roof so they are taking them down) but for the most part, it was just the sudden shaking thing that freaked people out. I've been in 2 earthquakes now and both were rather "meh" compared to what I expect from earthquakes. It took a 9.0 in Japan to do damage to a nuclear reactor that was on the fault line..and it wasn't even that bad of damage (but at a bad place). The reason why a 7.0 in Pakistan or Iran sucks is because it is in Pakistan and Iran.

I added a third monitor to my setup a few days ago... sniped one of these on eBay for $61 in perfect condition. Makes for a total of 4800x1200 usable desktop space. I wasn't sure at first if it would add much over just having two, but it really does.

I thought the earthquake was badass and very cool. It disappoints me, however, that we have to live in Panic Land over here where everyone's first instinct was that it was a bomb. Damn Americans are stupid when they can't even realise Earth's raw power.

Do you even realize the age of most of the buildings in D.C.? They didn't have any type of building codes when they built them back then. Although you could say that the buildings didn't fall down because they were made by Free Masons.

Not that old. The infrastructure in America in general is fantastic compared to other countries; even 100 year old buildings are fairly well maintained (well, if they are) and have structure that can handle seismic events. To give you an example, the Metro was not shut down (but they slowed down the trains for a while in panic). The underground train system was undamaged. This was nothing compared to what happens in California or other parts of the world but the people in this area freak out over just about anything.

Thats somewhat true, but fact is it depends where you are. Most parts of the U.S has infrastructure thats in desperate need of repairs, especially in snowy states like Minnesota, Michigan, Ohio, etc. The roads, sewers, bridges, and buildings are in all need of repair or replacement because neglect; and those are well past 100 years old.

Huzzah, my WGRealms 2 map has entered beta, so hopefully there's just some minor tweaking left until it's ready to be included in the upcoming update later this year.

Does any place replace watch batteries anymore? I halve an inclination to go to Radio Shack but then I'll probably have to explain how an analog watch works and I don't really have that kind of patience right now.

Yeah, go to a department store like Sears and there will usually be no problem getting something like that done.

Are electronic watches that hard to disassemble to swap the battery? I surely didn't have any problem with mine. That might depend on the watches, though.

It is a nice analog watch (albeit, just stainless steel and not some precious metal) and I have been trying to find how to pop off the back to get to the battery. It took me a while but I finally was able to take the back off with a razor blade but the batter is well situated. I just have to remember to bring it with me the next time I'm at a place with a watch area; but why would anyone bring around a watch with a dead battery? It is only right twice a day.

I saw one of those nice ones that you clip onto your belt instead of wearing it on the wrist but I don't want to spend the money to buy a new watch when I could just replace the battery.

Fun fact of the day:
wise(Eng) <= wissen(Ger) <= weid(IE) => Ϝειδ(Grk) => video(Lat) => vision(Eng)

I realized this partway through the German for Reading Comprehension class I am in...so awesome.

I remember a few years back when I was delivering something to someone, she said "danke", which I had no idea what she said. So I asked, and she said, that's thanks in German.

I'm such a fan too.. I even got me the remastered edition of pretty hate machine and I usually buy his\their albums right away when they come out.

Anyway here's something that is pretty cool to me. WINEHQ has recently enabled Antialiasing with Direct3D games run in WINE so I can now play some classics with full antialiasing such as Max Payne 2:

The only thing that would make that better is a HRP. But some of the graphics still look quite nice especially Mona's gun in that last shot.

Also it would be great if the Max Payne games where updated so they are less stretched in widescreen. :(

Well, I don't have the book yet so I don't know how to spell in German (nicht so viel)

So, it's not technically a "limerick"...it is a little poem written in the bathroom stall by some witty college student.
