Malware placed on a computer by a browser/web site that keeps track of what you did on that site?
Or is that not an altogether accurate account of what a cookie is?

By the way, those ergonomic keyboards suck. They are so terribly awkward. The only reason I am using one is because I broke my own (tried to clean it by taking it apart completely) I must have put something not in the right place on the inside...but anyway, soon I'll be getting a new usb keyboard with the basic 104 or so keys....I like basic keyboards.

You know, I'd piss myself laughing if Randy Prickford made another announcement
"...We believe the fans should know that we have decided to switch engine..."

@Micky C; I got your PM btw, I haven't had chance to test it out yet, but I'll let you know when I do.

well why not make it that "we've decided to postpone releasing DNF until the creation of Quantum Computers, because we believe only Quantum Computers have the necessary hardware to run Duke at it's best, and we believe Duke deserves the best, we owe it to him..."

Oh it's nice to hear you got the PM, but I'm not sure we're going to get many people on board.

New keyboard is a tiny little thing...but at least it works. Silky smooth and should last a long time. I think I had my old one for a decade almost. It has the Start button keys so I suppose that puts it in the XP era or so. I could probably still fix it but it is PS2.

In other news, French is a pussy language. So soft and elegant. Do you know how to say "fuck you" in French?
Vas te faire enculé!

So soft that it just flows out of your mouth into the other person's ear. Might tickle a little as it makes it way. Sounds like something you say when you are at a funeral wishing condolences or ordering a choice meal at a fancy restaurant with a lady friend. Do you know how to say "fuck you" in German?
Fick dich!

Direct, clearly vulgar, and not at all smooth coming out or entering the ear.

Yeah - Je t'emmerde
Yeah - Verpiss Dich.

It's street version in both cases. Like English, you have slang and proper.

Fuck you is really non-sense English and impossible to translate, and the above are common phrases you will actually hear in Hamburg or Paris as often as Fuck You in Frisco. ;)

It is a nonsensical phrase. Is "fuck" a verbal imperative? What is the subject or the object? Is "you" the object or the subject? Is it a vocative of some sort? Is the implied sense "I will fuck you" or is it "Go and fuck yourself" or perhaps even "You, fuck [something]"?

These are things no one ever thinks about.

Oh, I thought about such things many a time - when I was high. Legend has it that the word "Fuck" comes from when the English invaded Scotland, they would write "Fuck" on the doors of houses where women would be raped, I believe it was an abbreviation for "Fornication Under Consent of the King" - Of course this would not explain what "Fuck you!" means, it may imply you want somebody to be treated the same way those poor Scottish women were, perhaps it is infact a threat meaning that you will get them "Fucked" for whatever they have annoyed you with.

I've always preffered German over French, it's a much more precise and to-the-point language.

I prefer German because:
1. I have found books and articles on the topics I write about in German but not French.
2. German is much easier to pronounce.
3. My German heritage beckons.

I'm fairly unbiased when it comes to german and french because I studied german for 3 years at high school, and got good grades for it, while studying french at the same time. I stopped german just over a year ago because I thought french was simply more interesting and more artistic. I'm now 2 months in to my 5th year of french, but I wouldn't mind picking up german again at some point, not to reach a fluent level but to get get the basics under my belt again so I can make my way through germany saying things like "wo ist der Bahnhof?"

Edit: we always make fun of the german language in french class. E.g "Ich suche einen Koch." (Say it out loud and you'll see what I mean.) And saying german things in an angry voice like GUTEN TAG MEINE FREUNDE!

Been a fun couple of days, I've been meaning to try pulling the gear hubs to pieces on my old bikes for cleaning and some other maintenance (Worn pawls and such) - I decided to strip a spare AW hub (Dated 1980 Week 3) to pieces first, have a look at all the bits and pieces in the document if you want; http://www.users.glo...and/sa/saaw.pdf

Anyhow, this worked fine when I re-built it, I decided, however, to take it to pieces again and use it if any parts were needed on the old bikes (as several parts, such as pawls and gears are the same as their 1920's counterparts) - the old bicycles I have use K hubs, probably 1936-1937, I have successfully dismantled the one on my Raleigh tourist, about 50% of the weight must have been hardened grease and dirt, grease and dirt do not mix well on moving parts, they act like sand paper and chip the teeth on gears not to mention other problems they cause in a precision device like a gear hub, a reccuring theme with this bike is cones/bearing being ruined, the left hand bearing cage was completely split and the bearings were loose and pieces of cage were in the left side of the hub (why first gear was so rough and slipped) but no problem, the bearings used in the AW are the same, so those were cleaned and donated, the Pawls were worn and so they were replaced, the clutch axle was a bugger to remove and put back in as the clutch sleve covers the spring, but the spring is in the way of the hole, it's pure luck that gets that thing back in, to make it worse, the clutch axle has a hole through the middle that you push the indicator rod through, lining that up blind is not fun. I don't have anywhere to work on this, so it was all done on a sheet of hardboard in my living room, so that smells like a gas station now with all the degreaser, grease and oil I used.

All in all, the hub has certainly seen better days, but to say how old it is and where it has spent most of it's life, it ain't half bad, successfully rebuilt and working, it is now much more quiet, but sounds kind of hollow without all that dirt, changing gear is almost instant, there is no slip, no matter how much force I apply to the pedals, of course I've flooded the thing with oil and will keep doing so for the next few days and once I get the spokes sorted, some were snapped - how could I not notice, given that I already replaced loads of them - I will have to ride it properly and make sure I get the oil worked into things properly, nontheless, it's a job well done if I do say so myself, now I have to do the same to the other one, and I don't doubt I will end up stinking even worse after that. Anyways, if you want to see what I have had fun with, check the document I reffered to for help dismantling this thing; http://www.users.glo...adland/sa/k.pdf
Look how many bloody parts they have! Still, they don't make them like they used to, my Shimano gears are always screwed after six months, these gears have been runing for almost a century, that is an acheivement if you ask me, the guys from Sturmey Archer should be proud.

Yeah, but it sounds hideous.

I guess that's why it fits for this purpose:

I'd rather have a harsh sounding but easier to say and spell language. I suppose that is because I have hearing aids.

Can't say I am a fan of this new forum, and my computer can barely run it.

I think you will see a lot less of me, but I was planning on leaving at the end of the year anyhow - not just this community, pretty much everywhere else too - so whatever, progress must be made.

Oh, my attachments have gone, don't worry about it though.

Aye, think I need a widescreen monitor and a newer computer to appreciate it, the way it is, most of the main page is taken up with the sidebar thing and it won't dissapear - which I suspect is down to some add-on or other with my browser, as it works in Chrome, but my computer hates Chrome too ;)

You can "minimize" the side bar with the small arrow on the side. It was really hard for me to see but once I found it, viewing the page was much easier.

I knew it was there, it just didn't do anything in FireFox on my Laptop (Still doesn't) but it does work on everything else, my laptop has problems with just about everything on any site though - in fact, even off the Internet, it has problems.
