All I have to do is make a simple switch-box that fits under the pannier rack so it can not be seen, this box will automatically switch between Battery and Dynamo through use of a DPDT Relay (Preferably a Solid State one, though I usually use mechanical) thus making my vintage dynamo lights road legal, I have done this several times before and it never ceases to work, well, except when the mechanical relay innevitably fails. The only real problem is that to make it work efficiently you have to include a rectifier, this means you have to insulate the dynamo from the frame of the bicycle and add a seperate "ground wire" or it will short out or even blow the batteries up - it could even wreck the dynamo, thing is, dynamo mountings are not designed with this in mind and usually have a sharp point to go through any paint and make contact with the steel frame, it turns out this is ideal for also breaking any kind of insulator - that is kind of it's purpose I suppose.
The box has a second feature!
Relays tend to make sparks if they alternate quickly - which they will when the dynamo is just beginning to generate sufficient power - if you ride near a gas leak the chances are you will find out about it. It also tends to get warm if you ride long distances as I discovered on my old Townsend on which the first switchbox I ever built was installed in the pannier bag with my lunch, when I got to Hornsea my chocolate bar had melted where it had been sat against the relay, though I can find no practical use for this yet
Ideally I would use a Carbide lamp, but they are expensive and I do not have much money right now.

@ High Treason about the keyboard: Interestingly enough it's not like that. It's the regular American keyboard save for the backslash next to the shift key as shown there.
