Actually, adult stem cells offer far more solutions to medical problems RIGHT NOW than embryonic stem cells can or will be able to in the near future. People can claim that there isn't enough research funding or some other bull shit like that but the facts remain: I actually know people who have been cured through adult stem cell treatment (bone marrow transplants, for example). Recent research in adult stem cell use has shown that the stem cells in umbilical cords can be used to do incredible things and even early trials have less of the nasty side effects from using embryonic stem cells on mice (tumors and death).

There is a vast difference, from a strictly (Abrahamic faith or Aristotelian) moral perspective, between fruits and vegetables and human beings. I will choose not to bust out Aristotle on your ass, but I could...oh, I could...

Lol yeah I'm not that cold hearted, I was just using an exaggerated example.

On the matter of ethical debate, I find in Australia people don't really care about issues overall. I mean everyone here has their views, and people might start arguments every now and then, but then we go off and do something else and not worry about it. E.g someone might say "I am 100% completely against abortion" but most of the time won't do a thing to try to get people to stop doing it.

In America I understand people can get very emotional about issues. That might be generalizing but that's more the case over there than over here.

However, this is tangential, the thing with fruits and vegetables raises questions to super vegans et al. If you don't want to harm any living being, then what justifies eating a carrot? I've actually heard (I shit you not) that some guy once said that carrots don't scream loud enough for us to consider it bad to eat them...yeah...that's right, if you can't shout loud enough, it isn't a problem. Mutes can be raped, molested, tortured, killed, or what have you...but if they scream, you have to stop.
That is some fucked up shit right there...

I'm all for abortions. There are enough people who don't want to be here as is, no reason to add more.

I got meself a new toy, called Misfit 3D. Owner never responded, so it's mine. Done in C++. Deeper look found something called Lua in it, and that is done in c. Will that language ever die? There should be a command developed, to force mass c suicide, or something real bad, anyways. Where is my Jack Daniels? Here. Prost, my death wishes to cCcCcrap!

I use the word "risk" in a blog post and I get a spam comment "is there a 30 day no risk trial?"

I don't know why, but I find that rather humorous.

Next thing you're gonna say, is you've actually played RISK.

I have...all the way through...on multiple occasions. At least once with alcohol.

Also, this thread has less activity than my sex life.

Is it ok if I post in this thread for the sole purpose of increasing my post count... uh, I mean contributing to the richness of the community?

I'm at 199 posts on another forum I visit (Waits to be stoned to death for daring to use another forum) and I can't find an excuse to post on it yet.

Feel free to quote this as liberally as you please and as out of context as is fitting.

ADDNEDUM:
I just had a really disturbing thought: I am a 23 year old man in graduate school with mostly late 20's-early 30's unmarried (mostly still hot) women...shit, I'm in a cougar den.

That's good isn't it? (I'm still a relatively inexperienced 17 year old male in an all-boys school who's only ever had 1 proper girlfriend)

...depends on your stance on older women. I mean, half a decade isn't much (at this point) but, still, I'm not sure I'm really game...
Of course, some of them are quite boring even by graduate student standards...I mean, who doesn't like snow?

Personally, I'd rather not get involved with any woman with whom I have classes anyway since that could just get really...awkward at some point. Also, it doesn't help that I'm sort of involved with a girl from my undergrad who is from where I am at school now. Depending on how that works out, depends on how I feel about slightly older women taking an interest in me.

The real thing about the cougar den is that these are all single women who are aware that they are pushing 30 so they are...not desperate, but eager (?) perhaps. Or they are just really nice to the cute little kid trying to be an adult.

I go to a regular school, and I've never had a girlfriend at all. I'll be 18 in little under a month.
No, Lotan, I'm not gay.

Hmm, tis thread went down the bog. Talking about women eh? At least you can go within a mile of them without them calling you a rapist and running away to phone the police, I'd love to know why I scare them so much.

Actually, I find it amusing that people without wife/girlfriend frequently get suspected in being gay.

With the exception of going to a "regular school" I can one up you. However, the reason is simply because I am too sexy for women, obviously.

@Mr.Flibble Yet you're too sexy for your shirt?

For some reason I think this picture was either lost or blocked on Facebook (I know I had it up there at some point but now I can't find it). No matter, I have it stored safely on my server.

You have had sex right?
If not, then I would be worried.

Why should someone be worried if they haven't had sex before turning 18? What is the deal with kids wanting to rush into something like sex?

I have been pretty good about dodging this topic (ie, not taking it seriously on this board) but I think your question is indicative of immaturity and a bad understanding of sex.

I understand everything about sex and you would be an idiot if you are wanting to "wait" till your 18. All you would be doing is wasting so many good years of sex on nothing.
I think it was like 16 when I had sex first, even then I thought I was a bit late at getting it.
