Life is stranger then fiction.
Old Egypt is in the news. The young king Tut... had a knife made with stuff from a meteorite.

Please tell me I don't have to look into the "micro aggression" thread to find out the story behind this

Oh, those Canadian pirates, refuse to pay outrageous cable fees and steal an HBO show instead. I wonder when the MPAA & FBI & Army will enter Canadian soil to arrest them all. E-mail warnings didn't work. Posted Image

You thought the boy king with the sword in the stone was just story?

The legends are real(ly exaggerated, but based on truth more often than not)

I don't understand really though... if you can't afford to pay for something designed/made to be payed for, then you shouldn't experience it. I am not going to get into another impossible digital rights argument though.

People who "steal" something like that are going to accelerate the corrupt powers that be adding home access to law enforcement. I have not watched TV in about 15 years, so it doesn't matter to me. I can watch something (and occasionally do) via NetFlix or Hulu or something like that, which I can afford, if I choose.

With that said, the idea that they send me a letter telling me how easy it is to sign up and it isn't. Grr... but what I read didn't say it wasn't expensive, but that it was easy. Is easy to buy a new Toyota... and no more difficult to buy a new Ferrari, but it is expensive. This still seems a bit of entitlement to me.

Metaphore time! :P
Lets say I wanted the new Dell keyboard that comes with... some Dell computer. I don't care about the monitor, computer itself or mouse, but the new awesome keyboard isn't for sale separately. Is simple, I don't get to have one. Some might argue that you can't compare digital to physical and I understand that, so another metaphor for them.

Lets say I wanted a copy of one of the games in that collection that 3D Realms did before GearBox kicked their ass in arbitration... but I didn't want the rest AND it wasn't available separately. So is it ok for me to pirate it? I don't think so, it just means I can't afford it or it isn't worth it to me to buy the rest. (of course my husband would just buy it again for the one game he wants. Hehehe)

The biggest issue with digital piracy is most peoples lack of understanding of effort.

MBC has a view on this I think... he said maybe if companies set an amount of money to be made that topped out, then it becomes free. Like a "Greatest Hits" thing that Playstation did (does?) with popular titles, but to the extreme. He also notes that most companies are never going to "give away potential sales". He does this however... once he makes a certain amount of money from anything he builds, he usually gives the others away free, or at cost. He did this with Duke Nukem games in the 90's, replica movie props he makes, martial arts weapons he makes, game-room things he builds. Like the other Nuke Symbol floor he made, he gave one away to someone who really wanted it. Maybe having personal excess, and being big and corporate is too different.

Anyway, some people can never have enough I guess. I am content with the amount of "stuff" I have I suppose. :)

It’s just an idiom I used.
I just find it intriguing the Egyptian used material from a meteoroid to forge a dagger for their king.

Like you I don’t have a TV either. The cost to get hooked up, with junk channels and internet is CAD $150.00. Want to watch interesting shows or have faster internet service, add $50 to it. This works out to $2760.00 annually (including taxes), or the investment required to watch HBO in Canada, or the show in question. And I mean investment, for this price 'deal', you need to sign up for at least two years.

Just to twist things... we have nine televisions actually. But we have no cable, satelite receiver or even internet based service for what I would consider actual TV. All of our TVs have games hooked to them though... and computers and security cameras etc. Is great to me because I can see any screen on any screen weather monitor or television... is a great setup. Anyway, that is just me nitpicking. I understand what you are saying. My physiology dictates that I be difficult, especially with males. Hehehe

Do you know how many shoes and clothes I can buy with that kind of money?! Why anyone would want to spend that much to get what is delivered on Network Television, is hard to imagine without some extreme condition... like illness, physical disability that keeps you less mobile, or maybe a psychological issue like agoraphobia. But most people I know watch television every single day, sometimes for hours. I can't imagine not outgrowing that. I am not saying you can learn things from television, but to want entertainment (like fiction) is hard for me to imagine anymore. I can't say I miss it at all. I have SO much time to do real things now. Maybe it is more an escape.
This could get offensive fast, so I will stop there... Hehehe

Anyway, I desire no more than an hour or two a week of what might be called television. (e.g. The Voice, SNL, or Castle)

The Lady and I tried to use HBO Now. Turned out we would have had to purchase a new phone, tablet, etc in order to access it because her Android isn't compatible with the app, and I've got a very very dumb phone.

So now we're watching it for free every Sunday night at a local bar/theater/thingy with 100+ other people on a projector. Not my ideal actually, but we tried to use it and figured having a laptop we could hook up to the TV would be enough... but it wasn't. Either a new device or subscribe to some service we don't want or need. Fuck'em.

Yep, two good suits, designer shirts and a couple of hand painted ties.

Interesting, I assumed incorrectly then that the US is better to their potential customers. Posted Image

p.s. My ex... knew all the shows. My new one is foreign to the Western habit of watching TV. So it works for both of us. She crafts a lot and I'm a pretend video game developer. Posted Image

May have snapped something in my leg. I can still walk, but it hurts every time I move it or put weight on it.

That doesn't sound like fun. Anything specific cause it, or it just start up hurting?

At least it wasn't a pinched psychotic nerve... I hate when that happens. : |
I take just a little bit of plain aspirin a couple of times a day for a few days to get the swelling down so it can heal. Works for me. :)
Good luck. :P

It's still hard to believe that Sonic is the black one and not Knuckles.
