You mean 15/6/15 (15 June) - 6 6 6, when C-51 may come into effect?

Yeah, that one is extremely nasty. Reading through the thread, it said that it has been used in safety presentations before. I would think that seeing that would really alert you to the fact that operating machinery is no joke, and that safety must be employed at all times. Pretty frightening what can happen.

Some Idiot was working on a breaker panel and didn't lock out the shut-off. He didn't just cook, he exploded. Crispy pieces flying everywhere. What was left of his head landed on top of the cabinet he was working on. All this was caught on some security camera. (you can probably find it if you really want to see that). Technically it wasn't very gory; big flash, black smoke, pieces of burnt bacon thrown in the air like confetti, but no blood and guts since the gooey parts were pretty much flash-cooked. Looked like more like a star-wars explosion than anything.

So how do you think the bank handles the fact I cannot make payment to the electricity company, seeing as it is the electric company I owe money to? The bank handles this by charging me more money for nothing more than greedy capitalist ideas and there is nothing about this in the contract I signed 9 years ago, I have never been sent an updated contract.
Thanks bank, now I have to starve. Fucking assholes.
Somebody is getting a very rude phone call tomorrow I think.
The electric company shouldn't be an issue however, as they actually owe me money because I have been overpaying by a few pounds for a few years - I never corrected this just in case such a circumstance should arise.

Yes it's shit, but in most cases you can get it reversed.

Today, though, I met one of my heroes, the Ensoniq SoundScape. I wish I hadn't; it sucks!
Seems shitty to get rid of it as it is SPEA branded and matches my graphics card, but I might try and find someone who will trade for a PAS16. Actually, the graphics card is a pain in the ass too because it can't use SVGA modes when the CPU is at 40MHz, how the hell they fucked up an ET4000 I will never know.

I never really mess with OEM or anything with proprietary pieces in it, but I have lenience on Compaq's old stuff because it was solid, we had some (mostly Pentium-based) ProLinea's still in service where I used to work about ten years ago (my city probably still thinks the Pentium 4 is next-gen and the Y2K bug is a real threat) and they were impossible to kill, the Cirrus chips those had on-board though were a pain in the ass, corrupted video regularly happened in Windows 95 at 800x600 for reasons unknown, even replacing the memory chips did not make it go away. I liked working on those because I knew it would always be a long time before anybody asked me to come back to them.
I have other ET4000 cards and they've always been good, the QuickWorks 24i is an ISA one with the V33 processor this new card has, it was used in a 33MHz 486 for years and now runs in my 386 (Well, 486DLC-40), the 486 moved to an STB LightSpeed VLB card, which uses the ET4000/W32p, a card unmatched in performance outside of maybe the S3 Vision or some later Matrox PCI cards. Both of these ones are happy on a 40MHz BUS, one of them can tolerate a 50MHz BUS.
This new PCI one is outstripped by the S3 Trio 64 and even it's own brother on the ISA BUS (The QuickWorks card) which makes no sense to me, I struggle to understand what they did. The only workaround to turn the CPU up is to enable the 1/2 PCI divisor, but that makes performance even worse and negates the point of cranking the CPU up. I wanted to stick with hardware available in 1994, but I might have to break that and go with something from later... Maybe an ET6000 PCI.
The sound card on the other hand, screw it, guess I'll be stuck with FM Synthesis... Could always use an AWE32 I guess. I was going to just throw an SB16 in and disable SB Emulation on the Ensoniq, but when I do that, the SoundScape synthesizer goes nuts and the card stops working properly, possibly DMA problems, but even shoving the cards miles away from one another and double checking the DMA's in use by things like the drive controller doesn't make the problem go away. I can only conclude that the SoundScape is bollocks. Still think I'd rather use a PAS16 if I have to go FM, the FM Synth is the same Yamaha YMF262 Creative used, but they wired it differently and it sounds awesome, I could always figure out a way of getting wavetable synthesis later.
I don't think I'll have a problem getting rid of the SoundScape anyway, people kill to get their hands on them.
