not even close. 40 is quite feminine

you might want to consider the source though. it was a viper post, they're all probably transsexual/transgender or transvestite.
i'd still bang about half of them if i didn't know any better

In reality, the Earth doesn't spin around the Sun. They spin around the centre of mass of both objects per say.

Oh come on, the mass of the sun is so many hundreds of thousands of times greater than the sun edit: Earth that the centre of gravity of the system and the centroid of the sun virtually coincide. If you're going to be that technical about it, then theoretically everything in the whole universe has some effect on the orbit of the earth (based on our current theory of gravitational attraction that it only drops off exponentially with distance and thus should never quite reach zero).

And of course when I do pushups, a very, very small part of the motion is me pushing the Earth away. I'm just that strong B)

Hehe, no, gravitational waves (travelling at the speed of light) emerged from close to or beyond the Hubble radius will never be able to support your pushups. B)

Actually the barycenter of the sun is not in the middle of the sun:

This. Except that you sun twice, i take it´s earth.

the physics of what fox said are correct, but the example he used is over exaggerated. in an earth-sun only system the actual pivot point would be just off center of the sun's mass

it's also one of the methods to detect planets around distant stars. they look for the wobble
used to be they could only detect huge gas giants, but the technology has advanced enough to notice variations caused by smaller earth sized planets

I imagine if it was just the sun and the earth, then this would be a much less exaggerated representation:

I thought the method they used to detect planets involved a subtle, cyclic reduction in the luminous intensity of a star as planets pass between it and and the earth every "year". This of course becomes more accurate all the time, with us gaining the ability to find smaller and smaller planets as telescopes improve.

Of course they probably use a combination of different methods.

Of course they probably use a combination of different methods.

they use luminosity observations as well, but when the planet is small or the planet's orbital path does not cross between its star and the earth's point of observation they resort to other methods like the wobble which are easier to detect in those cases.

technology is getting better all the time. maybe someday we will have the tools powerful enough for direct observation

If your mum's bedroom didn't have such a low ceiling then it wouldn't have ended up like that.

The new season of 24 features Yvonne Strahovski (from Mass Effect, among other stuff). Isn't really a spoiler, seeing as they've had trailers up for the last month or so. So they've kind of revealed the whole cast of the show. I will keep plot details under wraps though. It's good, all I'm gonna say.

Not sure if that "what are you listening" to thread count towards TV shows or just music.

You don't need to update, just clear out some stuff from your current drive. If you upload some of the Duke stuff you've been working on, we'll hold onto it for you Posted Image

Just got back from a job interview with London Electronics (which isn't even in London, the irony!), feel it went well, but I am not looking forward to the one in Luton tomorrow for one; it's a bitch to get too and two, it's going to drain my money until Saturday. Luckily I managed to get all that I need for the week. Hopefully, I can get a decent nights sleep tonight for once.

Edit: Trying to type on this thing is like trying to sell broccoli to an 8 year old.

To be honest, I hate politics and such. So much lies, so much nonsense. But I feel like I should leave it here.

"On Friday, May 2nd over 40 anti-Kiev protesters were burned alive in the Trade Unions building in Odessa Ukraine. The mainstream media has reported on the event as if how the fire started was a mystery, using cop out phrases like “the sequence of events is unclear”. Some have gone so far as to insinuate that Russia is responsible for the violence. Now while the sequence of events leading up to the fire may be unclear (and we'll get into that below), the insinuation that the ant-Kiev protesters barricaded themselves in and burned themselves alive is ludicrous."

This is horrible. I know, today's media (including my country's) is full of lies, but it's ridiculous to say that Russia would be responsible for burning russian activists in Odessa.

I guess, the worst is yet to come.

There's only one computer with Windows XP on it where I work (some old archaic system). Everything else has been upgraded to Windows 7.

It is a 32 bit limit, not really an XP limit, per se.

However, it also isn't real. There are drivers available from hard drive manufacturers which allow for partitions larger than 2TB on 32 bit systems. At my old job, I installed two portable Seagate drives on some old XP systems with 4TB partitions.

this is sad and disgusting.

it seems like everyone wants to sit back and point fingers, but they're too scared to step in and fix the mess.

how many people need to be murdered before action is taken?
