Don't let it get awkward. Just continue to be friendly and behave as if it were no big deal. Merely looking for some after-hours socializing.
If you continue to act casual and open maybe some time in the future they'll change their mind now that they're aware you're interested in getting to know them better.

it works out more often than not from my observations over the years.
i've only seen a couple bad blow-outs that affected the work place, and in those cases one of the people was already emotionally unstable or a bit off-center before the relationship even began.
Why people choose to get involved with someone else who's mind is out in left field and a co-worker is only known to them. Maybe they think they can change the person, they're desperate, there's a physical attraction that they can't see past, or they're a bit off themselves and just can't notice it. Doesn't matter i suppose and you can never warn them off (somehow you end up being the "bad guy" if you bother trying - better to stand back and watch the china syndrome from the other side of the building when the inevitable happens).

for nostalgia reasons i like the Diamond line of trucks though. Those were some durable and well built vehicles.

It's the same sort of view on cars as well. Modern US cars mean as much to Euro/UK owners as sand does to an Arab, basically.
(That said, classic US muscle cars get great press abroad, though. Even I would love a classic Dodge Challenger or a Ford Mustang).

some of the issues between american and european vehicles is the different emission standards. this adds to the cost of an american vehicle
the larger issue is the cost of production. american manufactures have backed themselves in a corner over the last thirty or so years with their labor force.
when you buy european you're paying for quality and engineering, when you buy american you're paying for the wages of the people who assembled it.

I don't care that it makes 20 more horsepower than my 2004 V8, it's all wrong. That shit doesn't belong in a muscle car. It doesn't sound right, and it certainly won't drive right. Anyone who's even driven a V8 performance car will know what I'm talking about. Dat powerband.
And yes, I know about the Mustang SVO. That thing was wrong, too. That's why Ford only sold like, three of 'em.

or do you mean european made sports cars? there were alot of them out zipping up and down the autobahn during the time i was there
