Largest house in the world is around 2 million square feet. I wouldn't want to be responsible for cleaning that.

Back when I was around 12 or so, I had this fascination with reading condo magazines and looking at all the big, expensive houses. There was this one house which was around 6,000 square feet. I thought it was huge, but the place I linked probably has 1000 square foot bathrooms . Full baths anyways. Half baths (toilet & sink, no bathtub) might be 600 square feet.

Windows 8 and 8.1 aren't so bad if you don't use the metro stuff at all and use a start menu replacement app.

I'd use Windows 8, but FSX doesn't perform well on it. Works fine on Windows 7. That and I'm not big on upgrading Windows if it works just fine without any issues.

^Try putting it in XP compatibility mode. That will turn off composition for the app in question.

I guess with performance I mean stuff such as it has less FPS on Windows 8 than Windows 7, but FSX runs on an engine that was last updated in 2008, and first built around 1995 or so. Doesn't take advantage of all the modern hardware (eg. SLI, properly coded for multicore, DX11...).

I paid $25 for Win 8 Pro, no issues once I got used to it.

Somebody died as I gave them CPR today. It was my wife's dad. I think I'm taking a hiatus from the community, not sure yet... I might need you guys to help me cope.

Worst day ever.

That genuinely sucks man. We'll be here if you need us. Did he have a heart attack?

My grandma also died suddenly last year. One minute she's fine, the next minute her heart gave out.

I don't know if he had a heart attack or a stroke... he was acting really strangely soon before it happened, and then he was acting normally, and then he died. There was a lot more to it than that but I don't want to get into it right now. I'm exhausted. Four hours of sleep last night, and my whole upper body is aching like hell right now. I'm fairly certain he died very shortly into it, so I pretty much did CPR on a corpse for 10+ minutes. I can't get the sound of the cracking ribs out of my mind.

Ugh. Somebody get me another drink.

Witnessing death is an harrowing experience. I'm sure you did all that could be done. My condolences, and best wishes, to you and your family in this tough time. As expressed by others, I'll help any way I can, and I'm sure the rest of the community will respond as positively, just ask.

Fuck, that's some life changing event. Very sorry to hear you had to go through that and for your extended familys pain. I had to do the same for my dad but thankfully he survived not because of my help but because the doctors got to him in time, it was terrifying, stay strong man you did all you could. I can't imagine how you must feel.

Sorry to hear that.

My grandmother isn't doing too well either. Went into the hospital couple days ago. Her heart stopped for 17 seconds, but they managed to resuscitate her. She's 91 years old.

My condolences - I usually just give hugs, since words are empty soundings from a distant world. Posted Image

I'd give hugs too. Not good with speeches. Afraid I might screw something up.

God god damn, that blows. My condolences to you and the missus. It sounds like he didn't suffer very much right before passing though, right? It's cold consolation, I'm sure but in moments like this, you have to take it where you can get it. Sorry again.

Windows XP Pro SP3 is ample enough for me at the moment. I have no problems with it.

If you want to use more than 2GB of RAM properly and DirectX 10/11, i'd advise you to switch. At least these are the only reasons I switched to Seven later last year (oh, and updates).
Fuck Windows 8.
