Yesterday, I had the first session of my four-week, zero credit-hour, ENG 100 "Engineering Orientation" class. (mandatory graduation requirement for all freshman) Our ELA (Engineering Learning Assistant, basically a glorified TA if you know what that is) instructed my class to move our desks in a circle. Starting with the ELA we had to come up with an adjective that started with the same first letter as our names, and then repeat everyone's adjective and name who went before you. Being an engineering class, if the class didn't already have plenty of students with ethnic names, usually it was compounded with chronic mumblers. So we gradually went around the circle.

"Sexy Sid"
"Cool Cody"
"Plastic Platon"
"Super Sahil"
"Eloquent Evan" [me]
"Bangin' Brian"
"Michael" [a guy from China who couldn't remember anyone's names or think of a word starting with M]
"Wild Wayne"
"Excellent Edward"
"Jolly Jimmy"
"Raging Rahul"
"Breakfast-Loving Berk"
"Jacked Jerry"
etc.

I remember that ice breaker...I hate ice breakers. Although, I understand the benefit of them. Less so for a class, especially a non-major class.

Looks like this strike thing is very real now. Between 91-98% of people voted to strike in other parts of Alberta (aside from Calgary and Edmonton, which are the two big cities).

FUCK ME.

I just took my CCNA and I scheduled the new 200-120 exam by accident! Spent all this time studying and failed...got a 615 (825 is passing).

I just found out these dipshits are running BOTH exams at the same time! WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT WHEN EVERY CISCO ACADEMY JUST GRADUATED STUDENTS WHO LEARNED MATERIAL FOR THE OLD 1.1 EXAM?!

Fucking amateurs! I just wasted over $200! Now I have to reschedule the old 640-802 next week.

This fucking company man. I've had so many issues with their system so far.

They should have just migrated on September 30th. There were STILL typos in this piece of shit, and one of the questions didn't even work (I had to make an access list and kept getting a "command not supported" error).

I've waited two years for this moment :P. I usually had the highest grades in my class.

It's beyond lame. It's gayer than Tim Gunn in a forest of dicks.

Maybe that question with the typos and it wouldn't work was the company's version of the Kobyashi Maru test from Star Trek. It was a no win situation and they wanted to gauge your reaction. Yeah, thats it.

I'm not familiar with that. But I shit you not, they spelled it "Numberd Access Control List" and the "access-list" command threw a syntax error at the apostrophe. So I tried "access list" and it said "Command not supported with this configuration." They lock commands you aren't supposed to use out of certain test questions.

Proof I knew what I was doing. What the fuck Cisco?

You know, come to think of it, they also wanted that ACL on the outbound interface, despite the fact that an inbound interface would have made so much more sense. An outbound would have just been a waste of bandwidth/CPU cycles. I did a double take when I saw that.

That whole question was crap.

Some of you retrobitches on Windows NT 5/6-based operating systems might enjoy this just released OPL3 MIDI driver. There's a driver for real OPL3 hardware and a driver for emulated playback.

Can't get this to work. Any ideas? I disabled driver signing in GPEDIT and used Vista MIDI fix to change my default MIDI device. No dice.

All I did was extract the user-mode driver to some folder, run install.bat with admin rights and set the appropriate MIDI device using the BASSMIDI config program, in Windows 7.

It depends. I went to technical school and didn't have an employer sponsor me.

Are certifications better to get than a degree or diploma when it comes to working in IT? Not planning to upgrade myself currently, but just wondering.
