Personally, 50s < 60s < 70s < 80s > 90s > 00s > today.

5 Complaints About Modern Life (That Are Statistically B.S.) (The whole article site is a good read, but I directly linked to the page where it talked about music.)

Agreed. Mostly, because I started listening to pop music in the eighties and therefore my musical taste was mostly formed back then. That might explain why I kinda like Lady Gaga's stuff which is basically 80's style. Of course I'd never call 80's music 'oldies' :P

I listen to music dating back to 500 A.D. or there about all the way down to now 2011. As for Pop, once upon a time Mozart was a pop artist. And like Lady Gaga, some of Mozart is awful and some is very good.
My point – I think it's all a matter of taste, not time. Yet from the years to choose from, (70) 1979! the Clash - London Calling.

I'll listen to anything as long as it isn't dogshit. So mostly stuff pre-2000 or by bands that existed pre-2000.

Most music I listen are 60,70,80.

Some 90s.
Some 50s.

Classic rock are the most important music in history.
Even tons of them made in the 500 greatest songs of all time.
Etc.

Most of the music I listen to is from the 1960's, I listen to bands such as "The Move" and "Herman's Hermits" but my favorite band is "The Zombies" especially their Odessey and Oracle album, just the sleve for the record is awesome;

I'll listen to most music though, I listen to a lot of classical/baroque music and a hell of a lot of metal as well, in fact, the only music I really dislike is swing and modern pop music.

There are many good songs from the 1970's, I like Showaddywaddy and Dschinghis Khan the best from that decade. The 80's is where we were running out of good music, Eurythmics are my favorite from that time.

Lamest fucking term ever. I hate it. Modern 'rock' is not rock 'n' roll, and 'classic rock' is rock 'n' roll. Fuck mainstream media trying to water down rock 'n' roll rebellion into Pat Boone sedation.

Classic rock means AOR and old stuff.
But when I use "classic rock" I refer as pre-80 stuff like 60s 70s musics.

Classic rock to me means stuff from pre-80s.

Like.

April wine (hard rock / heavy metal )
Genesis (progressive rock)
Deep purple (heavy metal / hard rock )
Boston (band) (hard rock / rock / arena rock )
Morse code (French progressive rock)
Richard Harris (rock / symphony rock)
Spirit (hard rock / jazz rock / progressive rock)
Its a beautiful day (progressive rock / psychedelic rock )
Chicago (jazz rock / progressive rock / soft rock / rock )
Rolling stones ( rock / hard rock / psychedelic rock / rock and roll "early" )

And more.

I like 80s, 90s and 00s , 10s.
I like all kind of music.

Many people in my family said I should become a radio DJ lol

Classic rock is a bullshit term. Calling Louie Louie classic rock is like calling the sandwich you ate yesterday a classic sandwich. It's retarded.

While I do listen to various music from various periods I must say that 90s doomdeath and black metal bands have a very special place in my heart.

I really like 50s music, back in high school I was a Rockabilly hardcore. When I cruised, all I played was oldies and Rockabilly. Fats Domino has to be my favorite artist from that era. Patsy Cline, Bill Haley, Billy Lee Riley, Little Richard. Elvis gets all the fame, but he stole all his material.

Through oldies, I've gotten into music from the 20s--40s. Lots of Jazz, Blues, and Boogie Woogie. Good stuff man, good stuff.

The only music that I like is from 30's 40's 50's 80's and 90's
60's and 70's don't come back to me as decades that produced music for my taste. Sure there are years from 60's and 70's where at least a few songs were produced that I like but the decades themselves did not have music that I listen to.
I love 80's and 90's music the most followed by 30's-40's and lastly 50's.
The music in 00's started to be a ruined form of the 90's and through the 00's it rapidly became the piece of commercial shit that is today.
Somebody mentioned Lady Gaga above, all I have to say is that Lady Gaga, Rihanna and Justin Bieber are the monuments of mediocrity and commercialism.
If these 3 figures would be statues I would go piss on them each time I would have the chance!
The way I see it, when I will live in the 20's I will talk with even more disgust about the 10's that just started this year!

Actually, I'd really like to see Lady Gaga release a non-dance album. She has the potential to be the next Cyndi Lauper, in terms of her vocal range. Apparently she's said in an interview that she doesn't take her music seriously enough to write serious music, that's what my super-Gaga fan friend said.

The 1980s was the best decade for heavy metal.

It was a really great year, every NWOBHM band had their styles and sounds nailed by 1980, and that year saw a good stream of the biggest Metal and Rock albums of all time. 'Wheels of Steel' by Saxon, 'Ace of Spades' by Motorhead, 'British Steel' by Judas Priest, 'Lightning to the Nations' by Diamond Head, 'Back in Black' by AC/DC (Not really Metal, but still a classic album). It was truly a great year and indeed decade for Metal and Rock, it led to the American Metal movement of the early 80's, and we need another good period of new bands that can learn from these guys otherwise we'll see a neverending stream of Linkin Park knockoffs.

I listen way too much '80s music. Hard rock, heavy metal, glam rock, hair metal synthpop, synthspace, italo disco, new romantic... Bands like Judas Priest (my favourite metal band ever... sorry Maidens!), Kat (only two first albums + live, later they changed so, so bad), Turbo, Bonfire, Scorpions, MP (Metal Priests), Helloween, Depeche Mode, KOTO, Proxyon, Kraftwerk, Omni, Sandra, Eurythmics, Rockets... Seriously, if your body don't want to dance to this, then probably you're deaf, or dead :dukecry:

Besides, I want you to listen to this track by Lady Gaga: My link (it's an official remix). Can you seriously call this a bad song?
