Interactive glory hole?!

Just my personal opinion, but Randy mentioned an interactive glory hole. Just thought I'd post my personal opinion: That shit's disgusting, would you actually stick your meat into something like that without knowing what's on the other end? It could be a fu**ing whale, or worse, a dude!

I haven't tried it out personally but I'm quite sure that "what's on the other end" is always known to all participants. You make it sound like a funhouse attraction.

Though for all we know, Duke could be sticking his gun in there or something. And I do mean a firearm. Like.. a pistol. That shoots.. bullets.

If it's truly an 'interactive' glory hole, then maybe you'd be able to choose what's going on on the other side

Discretion is the whole point of a glory hole... If you're getting sucked off with your thing stuck through a glory hole, there is no way of telling if it's a guy, a girl, or a blowfish (Heavy Metal 2000 reference)...

It would be fucked up (but funny) if Duke uses the hole, then you hear a manly voice on the other side say "it's just as big as they say!"

Perhaps rather than think of it as something you dislike, think of it as something that gives you the chance to choose who you really are!

Although I don't recall this ever being a directive for the design, I do have a hope in my tricky little heart that if the game doesn't make everyone uncomfortable at least once, then there is still more work to be done.

In the sequel though.

Heheh, Duke humor being what it is, I was already thinking of Wicked City before I read your post.

But honestly everybody... how the HELL could a Glory Hole be interactive? It can't be more than anything we've seen in Duke 3D, can it? I mean, walking up to an object, hearing Duke's voice, moaning, talking whatever, and maybe a voice behind it. I don't see how it could be any more intricate than that, being that we don't (well 99% of us anyway) have touch-sense I/O devices installed on our PC's.

It actually makes great sense as a little side-plot device. Typically there's no better way to rile up a player than to take away their sight (pitch black room) and just let them hear what's going on. Sticking Big Duke in a glory hole accomplishes that quite nicely. The possibilities for setting up humor are endless, especially if its used more than once throughout the game. Maybe the first time Duke gets what he wants, and maybe the second time it's even better, and the third... "WTH IS THAT?!"
