Well, I love these atomic like overdriven atomic explosions in Duke3D, tht makes the game more comic like.

Finally DNF should not be a realism game with hardcore dramatic story. Thts a general Problem of shooters these days,
they try to be to much seriously and realistic looking.
Fun and innovation, it seems, dont count anymore.

btw: I dont hope DNF is full of suckin cut scenes and script events :I
and please no linear tube levels :I

Seriousness killed the FPS. I got burned out on realistic FPS games back in 2006. It's painful to try to inject any innovation in that field, I honestly don't think it's possible to do anything major, just minor tweaks.

Also it's partly a generational thing. Young people weren't exposed to innovation the way we were. It's always been corporate crap with them. They don't know any better.

Hopefully Duke's enormous tool can change that.

Well, now maybe we can mod that in DNF if it will look too low res when it ships ;)
It's practically the same thing but in proper res, right?

I heard DNF has absolutely no cut scenes.
As for no linear tube levels and scripted events, I think they will be plenty.
To me, DNF looks like an extremely linear and highly scripted game.

Sorry for double post, I am tired...

So true. Even Half-Life never took itself too seriously most of the time.

There is no game made by valve that takes itself seriously.
Not even CSS or DODS.

Yeah. But Half-Life, arguably the most serious title Valve has ever put out, still has fun at heart before teh serious.

I think this sums up the FPS genre rather well:
