Ign's epic fail attempt at putting DNF down in their preview backfired big time!

#1

Did anybody read the preview from Ign? How the guy writing the article said that DNF's biggest cons are that it's not enough like COD and HALO, and that it's missing iron sights?
The comments on that article exploded with almost 99,9% of the members calling that guy a complete idiot, ignorant, amateur, bitch, whore, fag, hater, cod/halo fanboy, bribed trash and the list goes on.
What's also important to note is that even people that didn't originally like DNF, said that they are going to buy the game just to piss he reviewer at Ign off!
With all the things he said, he even got COD fans to hate COD and love DNF more!
I swear to GOD, his review might look like it was aimed to bash DNF but in fact it turned out to be a huge ass favor to DNF's popularity.
The snowball that is Duke Nukem is already rolling too fast for anybody to stop it and when fags like that one, try to sit in front of that snowball that's rapidly increasing in size and speed, they just get flattened and sucked into it!

Yes, it's funny how the "negatives" make this game look more awesome. ;)

I agree. On another forum I visit people were saying pretty much the same thing. "The farther this game is from modern shooters the better".

I'm really glad the comments are exploding in our favor.

We're coming to the end of a gaming generation people!

Entering the new gaming generation starting with Duke Nukem Forever ;)

Heh, yes it's completely biased, if you're going to review a game, you have to look at both sides not just one. Also notice the personal pronoun "I" in the article\review. It's pathetic.

I've always hated IGN. They are never any good reviews on that website and their site is so full of spyware it is not funny. Which is why I never listen to their views on games. I don't know why people think IGN is so great, but whatever.

This is why we need Duke back. He is going to bring gamers out of the dark ages.

BTW, since when did Halo have iron-sights? I know COD has them, but I don't remember Halo having any. Scoping doesn't count.

Why am I not surprised the cocksucker who wrote that didn't include his name?

IGN is owned by News Corp, which owns Fox News.

BTW, what do you think of this article? Ars Technica is extremely reputable IMO, so the complaints may be valid.

Explains alot. I bet they'll attack the game on Fox News eventually, especially since DNF seems to be anti-Illuminati. When I say anti-Illuminati, I'm talking the eyeball getting kicked through the field goal, etc. ;)

Glad others had that idea too, I'm not the only crazy dude here that thinks that it seems.
Problem is, 3DR might have been against Illuminati, but Gearbox sure isn't!
Their Borderlands game is filled with illuminati shit.

Here we go again with "Fox News"... It doesn't matter who own whom.

You're right, because they're all owned by the same people. I'm not attacking Fox News because I like another news company. I don't like CNN, NBC, whatever. There's a few people on those stations who seem ok, but overall they can't be trusted. The best news source is researching things for yourself.

Okay, I just added my own comments to the IGN's preview page as well as the writer's personal IGN page. Look for comments by yattaduke.

I go to IGN every day, i like the site, but i only see information about the movies, in the video games i also hated that they didn't put Duke Nukem Forever and Tomb Raider as one of the most anticipated games of 2011

It does matter as certain news services are biased against certain parties. 'Faux' news is one of the worst for this.

Oh, and for anyone who hasn't read the review, its got some spoilers on board.

I doubt that is the case with DNF preview. Linking IGN with Fox News is bullshit. They are just subcompanies in News Corp conglomerate.

How are we supposed to take any of your thoughts on DNF seriously when you go on a fanboy cursing rant like that?
You're the 'face' of Duke4, not the umptieth anonymous internet dweller, so a bit of restraint and distance would be welcome if you want to maintain credibility.

I just laughed after that:

Quote

(...) Walk into a room, pop a few aliens, and move on. (...)

What game they are talking about? Halo? lol

Let's make a little modification: "Walk into a room, pop a few soldiers, and move on."

It resembles other game? Oh, well...

Anyway, I'll still have my doubts untill I play the demo, but coming from 3D Realms (that helped on producing fantastic games like Prey and Max Payne) and Gearbox, it can't go so wrong.

I just read the IGN preview and it just makes Yatta's rant even more incomprehensible.
It doesn't touch on the graphics, it mentions some positive points of the game (ego system, puzzle solving) beside the negative and then there's this:

Quote

I'm not suggesting Gearbox shoehorn Duke Nukem into the Call of Duty formula because, well, there are plenty of games utilizing that bag of tricks. But the universe of Duke Nukem lends itself quite well to major set pieces, something only hinted at in the first 90 minutes with a very brief scene where you must shoot down an alien mothershp with a turret on top of Duke's casino. (Nice touch: as the mothership crumbles, Duke raises a triumphant middle finger.) Sticking to such an old-school rhythm threatens to make Duke Nukem Forever only relatable to a small group of older gamers that approach it with a sense of history. A gamer that has never picked up a Duke game prior to Duke Nukem Forever may be bewildered.

Well, you all know me quite well on these forums, I look at DNF as a game that will be great but not without its flaws. Having said that, even I think this guy's an idiot and reading his article actually managed to piss me off to some degree due to the guys ignorance and idiocy.

DNF irrelevant? WTF kind of world does this idiot live in? There is nothing else like DNF on the market except for the original Duke3D. Irrelevant? Hardly, I think this game will fill a gap that other games just haven't been able to fill for the last 13 years - in that regard, I think it's more relevant now than ever.
