Duke3D was edgy because you could kill the strippers which was a big deal to the feminists out there. Of course, with the way feminism has gone, nudity and sex isn't so bad because it is liberty or some bull shit.

However, I agree with kaisersoze; there is a point where what they've shown as the game (ie what they've used to advertise) has just been "how far can go" rather than being artistic or realistic. There is a thin line between artistic/tasteful nudity and porn. The target audience is obvious which may leave some of the older veteran Dukers out to dry.
To be honest, I'm not sure how many games have fuck in them. Aside from the fact that I've been pretty much desensitized about it, I don't remember many games with a lot of f-bombs.

Of course, the game could just have a single instance of the strip club and the rest is pretty much killing with no sex or nudity except at the beginning and end. Would act as a giant cock tease to some but a relief to others.

Strife
The Darkness
Crysis
Gears of War
Chronicles of Riddick
Battlefield: Bad Company 2
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
Call of Duty: Black Ops
Kingpin: Life of Crime
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
Grand Theft Auto IV
Poker Night at the Inventory
South Park 64 (Bleeped, but characters almost constantly drop F-Bombs)
Postal 2
Half Life 2 (Yes, Barney Calhoun says fuck uncensored once.)

That's barely scratching the surface.

I agree. I'm not happy with the f bombs in the game or the
heavily implied blowjobs/full on nudity. George said they weren't making a porno
game but this looks close to it. Duke3d was edgy without going
over the deep end. Their creative direction with DNF seems to have
been "let's see what we can get away
with".

Perhaps it's my older age(39) along with having kids now. I just
don't think we need content like that.

I'm sure it'll be a hell of a game and I'll be playing it day 1 but
it definately won't compare to the charm Duke3d gave us.

Thats how it should be. How is DNF going to have the same impact in today's world, like Duke 3D did without porno content and other non-PC content?

It will have the old Duke 3D charm but rely on it.

Technically, in the source files, yes. But in-game he's very conveniently drowned out by sound effects. Even the subtitles cut it out.

really???

we're now worried Duke will be TOO offensive???? All Duke IS is offensive, and whatever was offensive back in '96 is on Fox right now. Damn right the game needs to be as offensive as possible, needs to remind people that Duke is KING and that he will do and say whatever the fuck he want's to say. In my honest opinion (and this isn't directed directly at Mr. Flibble) If you don't like it GTFO.

Duke isn't about curing cancer or winning the Nobel Fucking Peace Prize, he's about bringing everything to the absolute EDGE, I hope he offends, and I can't wait to see all those stupid fucking news networks cry about saving "THE POOR CHILDREN"!!! and their innocent little virgin ears and eyes. People have gotten waaaay too soft over the past decade, and hopefully Duke can fix that in May.

Pretty sure the leaked documents referenced something about an interactive lap dance, just saying people.

and what the hell is wrong with that I'm asking. TONS of games have strip clubs and 'lap dances' who the hell cares? they even have full frontal male nudity (eww) in one of the GTA 4 expansions, its not like they're (Rockstar) trying to 'push the limit' the joke they wanted needed some dude's dick to be shown, therefore, it was, END OF STORY, I'm so sick of these idiot politicians making videogames out to be these evil things that companies creating purely to destroy humanity, it all gives me a headache

Next we'll be complaining that the Gibs look too realistic and should be censored, give me a BREAK

Seconded. A lot of us don't want to know anything about the leaked documents and have successfully avoided so....until people start coming on and blabbing stuff around.

third...ded? lol

even though something like that seems extremely obvious its going to happen, I didn't need to know 100% it will be in game. We're so close to release, please, lets not spoil it for everyone now after all the waiting.

First, that's besides the point.
Second, with a good sound system or set of hi-fi headphones, it can be heard clearly without noclipping.

I agree, and Duke should always be raw, crude, rude and un-diluted!

Just finished writing my 5-page long preview and I'm really, really burnt out. I spent more time writing it than I did traveling to Vegas and participating in the event.

I think you guys will like it. Yes there's new (ingame) screenshots.

Come back to the front page at exactly 9 AM PST on February 9 and it should automatically activate.

Yeah, I have to agree with X-Vector and Kaiser in regards to swearing and nudity. DN3D did it nicely, and I'd hate to see DNF go the wrong way about it. As Iggy said though, it may only be like that for a small part of the game, so we'll just have to wait and see how it turns out.

Yeah, hopefully people don't go on about leaked documents around here, or at the Gearbox forums either, as I'd hate to have the game ruined, especially when we're so close to finally experiencing it for ourselves. (Not directed at anyone, just saying) That said, I am looking forward to getting a little bit of new media and info (and Yatta's impressions of course) about the game, but not too much obviously. It's going to be a tough balance for sure. :(

@Yatta Thanks for the preview :(! can't wait to read it, i ll be f5-spamming the frontage at 9 am.

@the nuns (aka the people who whine about 18+ content ) We NEED duke to be offensive, edgy and make kids who somehow manage getting around to buy it or play it blush and fear that their parents might come up and see them play.

Duke 3D was just that, techonlogy advanced, ethics have changed and so Duke needs to get on with the times, do what it can to keep being badass and offensive.

If you feel your kids can't play DNF then don't let em play it, they ll do so at some friends , just like most of you did back in 96 and it ll probably feel more awesome and inspiring than if they played it normally:).

I m glad 3dr kept this direction in the game, nuns should stay in the church while we blow shit up tipping strippers for lapdances.

How did the video footage pan out, were you allowed to film any of the previously unseen areas?

Since the kid probably hands Duke the book asking him to sign it it will be obvious it was duke who wrote it so you don't really need to understand the reference to get it. Just like there was no reference the first time.

Holy crap! That does look completely awesome. Especially love the one with the pigs rapelling through the ceiling into the casino.

The hi-tech/space corridor thing looks cool if a bit generic. Really looking forward to this.

The gun duke holds in the third pick looks like the one the alien is using below so seems duke will be able to pick up and use the aliens guns this time around.
