Sounds like a worthy project. DNR has a *lot* of neat maps.
By the way, I have experience with MySQL and PHP, so if anyone decides to start a searchable map repo, I might be able to offer some assistance.

Are you referring to the feature that allows you to sort maps? That's not really a search function.
That's true, but it sure is handy. Also you can list them by map author.

sorry if I'm repeating myself but wasn't the whole DN-R database copied and re-uploaded on the duke4 servers at some point a while back ? I remember seeing something like that when DN-R went down for the billionth time last year or so. Weren't the download links and everything still working or fixed on that version of the site too ? Because if that's the case we don't really need anything anymore right ? And whoever is still interested in keeping that site alive could build something off the new version, I don't know if it is possible to grant access to it to potential new admins or what. I suck at this internet thing

It's true that a copy was made, and I think the files could still be accessed (not 100% sure though), but IIRC the database could not be edited. So I don't think it could be used as a base to continue from.

Tx did the recovery of DN-R. If you want to look at it, ask for the link (it's on Duke4 somewhere)
The links to onsite files don't work (they point to files in a database that no longer exists). Beyond HTML editing, I don't think there was much you could do with it, but Tx would know for sure.

It's really a shame to see such a nice website like DN Repository get abandoned. It had a very nice look and an easy to navigate layout. It showed cased a lot of fantastic maps. Why are they letting it go?

thanks for the false alarm, but you obviously didn't look at the forum which is over run with bots

yeah i got to log in and visit the forum on my laptop the other day, it's quite a saddening sight really, i thought there would at least be a couple of real threads and all i got was five pages of bot-generated nonsense and various viagra promotional campaigns, as if duke was now old enough to need it
