I'm at my mother's house and I see they bought a new PC (my first experience with Vista ).
I'm wondering how good it is (I don't have any games here, so I can't test... I'll probably download a few demos now, but comments from the specialists here are also nice ).

Those look like laptop specs.
If your first experience is Vista Home Basic, you have not experienced Vista at all.
Not that you're missing out. IMO Vista OS is crap but Aero is nice.

Well what's the difference then?
I think Vista is way worse than XP. They changed crucial design elements that were already standard in Windows for decades.
The new explorer for example... very unhandy, just like the "save" dialog box in applications.

So, are you implying that XP is sub-par? I think Windows XP is, if not the best, systems I have ever ran, and most liekly ever will run...

So, are you implying I always say the opposite of what I really mean?

Yes, Yes i am.
It just sounded like you were saying that XP is a bad OS, but not as bad as Vista when you said "I think Vista is way worse than XP"

If that was the case, then you wouldn't really mean this, right...
In which case non of us can actually agree that we're implying this, as we'd then actually say we're not, because you are...
Logic speaks for itself, it actually makes sense (go ahead, read my post )

its doubtful, but if you mean that the pc has 2 separate processors, both being duo's then that can be a sweet setup, i dont think you can just go and buy one of those though, i think youd have to build it yourself.
But if it was you simply replace the current cpus for the best available for that socket type and youd be rockin.

Your CPU (Processor) is OK. The big problem you have is Windows Vista and the amount of RAM you have. You need a minimum of 2 Gig to run Vista. Either bang another stick of RAM in there or see if you can get an upgrade to Win 7.
Your graphics card is, frankly, sucky. It should run HL2 OK as long as you don't bump up the res too much. Thankfully its an NVIDIA card so it will run Duke with Polymost. I don't think you'll get it to run Polymer. It will struggle with anything really modern though.
EDIT: Shit dude, just checked the original post date - You got a pretty good system - for when you bought it!!!!

You DON'T need 2 gigabytes of RAM to run Vista, spot posting such nonsense without giving reason for it. 2 gigabytes may be the generally recommended amount.
Anyways Nemesis necro posted.

The computer seems average for today's computers. There is definitely much more that can be changed to make it better
