Dr Proton ?

In this photo we can see a sign saying "Proton Palace." could this be a return of Dr. Proton? that would be very interesting - returning to elements from the Duke I storyline, and combining it with the gritty future visual style established in Duke 3D. Maybe this is the Duke-to-end-all-Dukes (until the next one of course.) Discuss.

Nope, no Proton. The sign there is just a reference, nothing more.

Proton will not be in Duke Nukem Forever. You can bet your bottom dollar. :(

I hope he returns in the next Duke Nukem game though. Duke needs a Nemesis, an Arch Enemy or Evil Genius which isn't some kind of over-sized alien. Dr Proton fit the description wonderfully, even though I haven't played Duke 1 (well I tried but I barely finished the first episode, it was too old. Duke 2 was much better though.)

That tower thing that the Proton sign is on looks remarkably similar to the rockets in Duke Nukem Shrapnel City.

I think since Proton Palace sounds like a Casino. Which Duke owns one also, that he and Duke must be best friends now. O_O They're both best buds watching Oprah together saving the world one chick at a time. Yeah.

Always bet on Proton. :(

But if dr. proton also owns a casino, that means he's duke's competition in the casino industry, and they must duke it out in order to get the monopoly

Dr. Proton "returned" in DNMP, but arush and Sunstorm changed it to Morphix because people still thought Proton would be in DNF.

Proton was to return in Critical Mass, but now thats been shitcanned...

and frankly good riddance too, the voice and design for Proton in that "trailer" was terrible. He had no menace.

Oh so the guy at the end of this trailer (from the other thread) was Dr. Proton? Thanks for the info :(

We can see the name "proton" in the background of one of the leaked videos, when the ship knocks over Duke.

Duke's probably either honoring his arch nemesis (Well, as much as one he's had) with a casino, or Proton's trying to get a casino based monopoly over Duke (As said above). Either way, it'll be pretty awesome to see what it is.

I can't believe all the people saying it's a casino, looks far more like a processing plant of some description to me.

Maybe he was sold a small lot and built very many floors vertically to save space. ^^

Well we know Duke gets shrunk down to mice size in one of the casino levels :(

I think we're making some great revelations here :(

I don't know, I think he's right. I know some may think my source more dubious than others, but the 2001 trailer shows him in-game. If it's not him, it fucking well looks like him. So that's the 2001 trailer. Everything I've seen of the current game could arguably be seen as redone content from the 2001 game. Hell, there's a car scene in the 1998 Quake-engine trailer! It's still set in Vegas. We've seen General Graves in the 2001 and current game. We've seen the mine cart gameplay in the old-ass 1998 trailer, and the current game. About the only thing content-wise I can think of that I've not seen an equivalent of in released/leaked media of the current game is that random blonde woman in the old trailer that Duke follows around a mine or wherever it was. Maybe she's still in it, we just haven't seen her.

Oh, there was one other thing - Dr. Proton. He (or the guy that appeared to be him in the 2001 trailer) hasn't been seen in any current DNF media, leaked or otherwise. I could of course be completely wrong and it wasn't Dr. Proton in the 2001 trailer, but if it is, there's more than an outside chance that he's still in there.

If you're thinking of Bombshell (I haven't seen either old trailer, castrate me), she is in the current DNF.

Dr. Proton was not mentioned in any of the leaked story docs.
