I figured they were up to something because it said the site was under maintenance earlier. ;)

I've been looking for a new game for my ps3 for a while now, and I still haven't played borderlands, so I'm getting it as soon as it comes out. Alas, this isn't until the 15th here.

Anyone log in to this yet?

would be interesting if you get instant access to the demo or you have to kick one's heels till gearbox officially "release" it?

Man, they SERIOUSLY need to change Duke's new look. I just can't connect him to Duke Nukem. He looks 100% like Duke Nukem's younger brother.

He looks fine to me. All hail the 90's.
Some people actually still use that type of haircut. ;)

That is the most un-Duke like face I have seen for Duke, the same fugly one they used in PAX show .

I am a DNF supporter but i must admit i was letdown by the Duke pictured in the certificate you get with the Borderlands GOTY vers.

Posted Image

I liked this Duke^

Or the last one you can see in this comparison.

The facial structure of Duke in that certificate seems too different from the Duke i see in 97-2002 artworks and definitely too young if DNF is actually set 12 years after DN3D.

One thing i can think of.. is that since we saw Duke only in the first level of the DNF demo, he may be the "young" version. You know the game Duke plays is based around DN3D so it would make sense to have a young Duke in there.

Maybe in the "true DNF" levels he will have that more mature badass look.

As I've said before, I believe gearbox may have altered Dukes image for the game since acquiring the IP.

It makes sense to give him a younger look to appeal to the majority of console gamers. It also makes sense since they probably want this to be the first in a range of Duke games, starting from this point. Making him older makes no sense from a marketing point of view.

Apart from missing the 'classic' look, I still prefer the new Duke.

I completely understand giving him a younger look, but if they ship a game which takes place 12 years after DN3D they can't justify that model. I can understand that model for a DN3D remake or DNBegins or whatever they may come up with next, but not for DNF , for the game itself is set 12 years after the last one.

Let's say they retcon the hell out of DN3D and say duke is barely 20 ( absurd, but lets do this for the sake of the argument )... does that Duke from the game look 32 to you? He looks still in his 20's to me.

Clearly Duke is suffering from the Benjamin button effect.

Looks like they have gone for a more realistic look, rather then a comical look...
it's not too bad, though what does annoy me is that his gloves match his wife beater (singlet).

He comes off a little metrosexual the way he dresses, as if he spent all day shopping for gloves that match his singlet
it makes me feel like he stares in the mirror for an hour doing his hair before he kicks ass.

Changes to Duke's appearance like this don't bother me in the slightest. I'm playing as Duke, not staring at him all the time. So his personality matters way more than what I'll see the few times I'm looking in a mirror.

How is it such a big deal when its a first person shooter. Only time you would see his face is if you looked in a mirror, possible cutscenes and/or Multiplayer.

He looks good to me. He looks a lot better then he did in Land Of The Babes that's for sure.

I did take the newer pick(From First Access I Assume.) And Enlarge his face.

Not the best quality but I see wrinkles. And most of these new shots, his face always bright from lighting. So its hard to tell.

Oh by the way. It is not a big deal to me:)

And that last pic with the twins is quite ok , he looks ok in that. I was mainly referring to the portrait you can find on the first access certificate.

Probably his babes made a birthday present for him.
