Well, I'll have to reupload all the music packs which will take a while. Sorry, guys.

Question @MusicallyInspired:
So v4.0 of your pack will basically improve ingame looping of the tracks, right? You won't change instrumentation or the quality of the music in general? (Well, I guess it's sounding like an SC-55 already or it never will... xD)

Well yes and no. V4.0 will offer the new seamless looping feature. I'll also be offering two packs because of complaints of the music being too quiet in the past. One at the regular unaltered volume and another with compressed and boosted levels, which makes it sound louder but doesn't clip the levels. You'll probably want to add the compressed version to the HRP pack if you plan to include it as it's just not as enjoyable gameplay-wise. Audiophiles can still download the standard version (but still with loop points that work in-game) separately if they wish. I am rerecording every track because I have to set non-standard loop points much of the time as it's the only way to make them seamless. So I'm not just taking the old tracks and fixing them up.

That's great news, then. I assumed work on the SC-55 pack was finished. Let's hope you get your website working again soon! ^^

BTW I'd also like to have High Treason's GUS pack hosted on our site, but so far no one has come up with a working mirror link.

FLAC support is imminent. Audio files play correctly, but I am having difficulty parsing the metadata for loop point information.

Not to hijack the thread, but...
@NightFright; That's getting re-recorded anyway, there were some bugs in the previous version anyway. I actually wanted it done by christmas but there were other projects that seemed more important.

Nice! I was wondering when FLAC support would come along!

So I was in the mood and started playing NW and some Xmas maps, and finally a little bit ago I said to myself "Damn that soft music, arrgh!" So, I remembered this thread and came back around to check on it. I'm glad to hear the new pack will be out soon MI, thank you sir! Sorry you're having trouble with your site though =(

Hi, I noticed the oggs in the 2012-02 pack are encoded with an old vorbis encoder:
Vendor: Xiph.Org libVorbis I 20070622 (1.2.0)

some also with:
Vendor: BS; Lancer(SSE) [20060331] (based on aoTuV b4b [20051117])

I'd suggest to use aoTuV 6.03 encoder instead, see quality comparison here. Using -q0 (~64 kb/s) with it should be more than enough for standard game music while saving disk space and CPU cycles on decoding. Sound purists may want to use the FLAC version.

Eventually opus support could be added to eduke to eventually replace vorbis (test here when it was still called CELT).

-q0 isn't enough for anything. 64kb/s? A single hi-hat will shatter that idea.

I'm not spending my time implementing Opus. Opus is really intended for streaming. It has some advantages over Vorbis (haven't looked into disadvantages) but nothing important.

Duke3D V4.0 OGG music pack finally released! Added loop point metadata tags for EDuke32. Tracks fade out outside of game for general listening playback. Also compressed the audio data and boosted the volume levels so it sounds louder now in game. MP3 and FLAC packs coming soon!

I'm happy to finally get this out the door. I will also make new packs for the expansions as well eventually. They don't necessarily need loop points, but they could do with boosted volume too.

Kudos to you! If you could get around to doing the rejected Duke3D track, Dark Matter, and the Shadow Warrior midis like this as well I would love you forever.

I have a collection of beta MIDIs for Duke and Shadow Warrior both as well as Blood. On the todo list.

A ready-to-use SC-55 Music Pack v4.0 is now available on the HRP website. It's basically a repack, putting all files into their proper dirs, plus the three missing voc music replacements.

I know that HRP site and your too MusicallyInspired mentions neccesity to have HRP placed in the same folder as music pack (usually in autoload folder) to make it work, but still I would like to know, is there any other way how can I make Eduke32 load it without HRP? I presume it uses some config file included in HRP to make it load all music tracks in correct order, but if I ripped that file from HRP, would it work without all those otther datas? (And yes, I know that I can load HRP and then disable hi-res textures and 3D models in video options, but I would rather prefer it this way.) Thanks for help. :)

There's a really small override pack available on the HRP download page which you can put into autoload instead of the HRP to activate the Music Pack. It contains exactly one file, duke3d.def, with exactly one line of code:
include highres/music.def

Yeah, I expected that some people might be interested in running the music pack without the HRP. That's why I put the file there, even though I could maybe make it a bit more obvious on the website. :)

Or you can extract the oggs straight into the root Eduke32 folder. The only drawback is that the replacement tracks for VOC files won't work.

Thanks for help Leod. So there really was link for override pack for music all the time? Oh boy, I do look stupid now. :)

I have tried to make the link a bit more obvious now by changing its name and the description enclosing it. If that's not enough, I can still turn it into a separate download option, looking similar to the music pack downloads themselves.

Has anyone had a chance to try the new music pack yet? Are the loop points working properly for everybody? Is the new volume level more acceptable now?

I'm trying to put together a metadata loop tag Doom music pack but I can't for the life of me figure out how to get OGGs and the like to play in GZDoom/ZDoom so I can test it. And I can find no information on it. I can't even get other music packs to work for it. Does anybody know what you're supposed to do?

EDIT: Never mind, I think I've figured it out!

Not quite in time for the 20th anniversary, but just in time for Christmas!

I've finally got the Doom SC-55 music pack recorded. OGG & MP3 so far, FLAC is currently uploading. It also works with Ultimate Doom. It's built for ZDoom/GZDoom because they support metadata loop point tags (I looked around but I don't think Doomsday supports loop tags) so you can have seamless loop points just like the Duke3D V4.0 soundtrack. Next down the line is Doom II and Final Doom.

Enjoy, and please let me know if there are any issues! Sorry this one took so long, some of you have been asking for this for a long time now.

Note: the MP3 pack doesn't appear to work with loop points. OGG and FLAC work only.

Finally got my act together and uploaded FLAC and MP3 versions of the Duke3D V4 Music Pack. Remember, MP3 doesn't retain the metadata loop point information, but OGG and FLAC are better for that anyway. Throw the MP3s on your iPod.

Any chance of adding Lee's extended "Grabbag" version? I also have an SC-55, but I don't know how to add loop points. On the other hand, the extended release actually has a proper ending and isn't exactly meant to be looped...

Yeah, I can do a looped version of the extended track with the metadata.
