Duke Nukem Wiki  "The Man. The Legend. The Wiki."

Hey folks,
I just wanted to let you know about the Duke Nukem Wiki project I'm trying to get off the ground. I have a fond love of Wiki's and get lost in them all the time browsing and searching...

First of here is the wiki:
http://dukenukem.wik...Duke_Nukem_Wiki

and... here is the steam group:
http://steamcommunit...groups/DukeWiki

You can find me on the steam group chat whenever I'm on the computer so please feel free to drop by for a little chat or to voice your suggestions on the Wiki or for anything on that matter. You guys are some of the hardcore Duke fans so I'd really appreciate any one of you stopping by the Steam Group just to show your support even if you are not interested in the wiki.

As some of you know an Official 3D Realms wiki was once in the works but it got put on hold, than it was back on, than on hold, than back on... eventually I made this Duke Wiki in the inbetween stages of that wiki being in limbo and than it was forgotten when the official one looked like it would see the light of day but that didn't happen. So here I am trying to get this one off the ground... I have big ambitions for this project and am highly interested in getting any of you collector's out there with Duke collections to come talk to me. I would love a gallery showing off all the different versions of the game and such. I really want this wiki to go in-depth on everything we can.

I'm sure they have a wiki already, bit I am not here to pass judgement.

I fail to understand your statement.

What I am making is a Gaming Wiki on Duke, which is a wiki that is focused on a game series specifically which means more depth can be added than normal. If you are refering to the 3DR Official Wiki, than no, they don't... not anymore. I should know I was one of the people working on it. Sorry if I'm missreading your post.

Anyways, I'm currently gathering information on Endangered Species, the cancelled Duke game, so far I have several screenshots and a few pages of information I've gathered. I'm hoping that once I'm done my research I'll get the page up to kind of show off what my goals are for this thing. Of coarse anyone can add to this wiki at any time, and I rather encourage it... I'm just hoping once I get this page I'm working on done people will show more interest.

I believe he meant the EDuke32 wiki, which is not the same thing that you have created.

So I'm going to be interviewing the lead designer of Duke Nukem: Endangered Species and am wondering if anyone has some suggestions on what I should ask?

Got betaz?

In seriousness, ask him if he still has any materials, and if so, can he release them.

I saw what you did there. :)

Wasn't there also an unreleased game called Duke Nukem: D-Day?

Yes... I may move onto that once I'm done with my current project. Who knows, I'll see how this goes first.

Yeah, Duke Nukem D-Day was supposed to be a game for PS2. The story line is actually pretty similar to the new trilogy games. Article on Unseen64 with a lot of rare screenshots.

Anyway, I support this Wiki. I'll start adding onto it in my spare time.

I'd like to update you all on the project... I'm glad to see that more people seem to be popping in and working on it than ever before! Slowly this thing is taking shape little bits and pieces at a time. I'm currently working in a kind of frantic fashion, focusing on one thing but branching out as info I have relates to other pages. I just uploaded a bunch of sprite rips I put together from Duke Caribbean and I'll probably get more as time goes on.

Really want you guys to contribute whatever you can, if you aren't much good at Wiki editing that's fine, just post any comments or suggestions. Anyone who has a database of all things Duke (I know some people do) I'd love to get a hold of any and all of the info you have.

Thanks for your time. Don't forget to stop by the steam page (link in first post).

No problemo. I'm still working on this casually. A lot of it is being worked on (on my side) off the wiki... gathering information and organizing it before putting it up.

Yep, so now you all know my big part of the wiki project... I currently have the most comprehensive archive I could get for Duke Nukem: Endangered Species and I'm still sorting it through it all. What I have is just an Alpha, no beta, but it is neat non the less.

It may be a bit till I post it however since I'm planning to write an article on the history of the game first but I just need to shop around to see who's interested. I won't release the game though as I doubt my contacts would want that and I don't want to burn any bridges for future projects... I've actually started doing a bit on my next one which won't be as shocking as this since this Duke game was released but it will still be informative.

Anyways, if your interested in anything else or have any thoughts on what the community may want to know please hop on to my steam chat (link in first post) and give me a holler. I'm the only guy in there all the time but I have made a habit of being in it at all times if I'm on the computer.

Well, back it up, burn some CDs, put one or two in a safe deposit box, etc.

Thank you.

Here is a link to something I'm working on: http://dukenukem.wik.../Area_51_Part_1

I'm trying to set up this page as kind of an end product of how I want level pages to be... So I'm asking you guys if you can check it out and give me your opinion on if its too much or confusing at all. Also is there anything.... ANYTHING at all that someone would be interested in when dealing with level specific things?

If you are refering to porting the levels to Duke 3D to be playable on it that is not possible at all as the engine is totally different... sure you could try recreating the levels and even combining them to make them a little longer and more appropriate for a Duke game but I'm not sure why you'd really want to.

If you are however talking about stuff like this:
Posted Image

Than as you can see I've been slowly working on stuff like this as I go through the game. Enemy sprites are a little more complicated... still haven't conquered that mountain but as with most things I'm doing here I'm learning as I go so I'm sure I'll figure that one out soon.

I've also been considering a few other tidbits as I want this thing to be idiot proof... If you've never played the game you should be able to walk away knowing pretty much everything. As such I do have a map for this level which I've replicated from the game. I'm going to tweak it a bit adding item and monster locations for each difficulty... or a chart with that information located close to the map... not sure...

Sorry for talking everyone's ear off on this thing I'm just trying to keep myself going on it as I don't want it to be forgotten so I tend to talk my head off about it to keep it fresh in peoples heads.
