Duke Nukem Won't Die

Not sure if I should post this here or in the DNF forum, oh well. Anyway, lately I've been talking to people and posting links on my Facebook with Duke Nukem related ideas. One was the Duke Nukem Agent man spinoff. (If you haven't heard it, go here: http://www.youtube.c...?v=KMaZyWy7fXM) Then I showed some of the Duke Nukem Forever Gameplay. People said that it looked totally awesome. I also showed gameplay with the Duke Nukem 3D gameplay HRP and HRP. Someone even recognized Duke3D from the Xbox Live Arcade port. So my guess is once Duke Nukem Trilogy (if not DNF who the hell knows) comes out, there's definitely going to be a mass raise in "funding" for future Duke Nukem games. It's a good "Chain Reaction" don't you think? Duke Nukem will make a comeback if one of the two comes out. I know you'll probably look at this thread as pointless, but I'm no stranger to skepticism or criticism for that matter. I just figured rather than sitting around making mods for the current fanbase... why not make the fanbase bigger and pass on the legacy to us. I can teach my friends to map, to make mods, it isn't that hard as it may be seem to be made out to be, also seeing as my friends are more visual learners. So introduce Duke to new people, try to get the HRP version of Duke ported to other consoles, or something more. We don't have to let Duke die with us before it has a chance to come out again.

Well, because Duke3D was so incredibly popular back in the mid 90's there is a fairly large fan base considering that there hasn't been a "canonical" release in over a decade. Someone like me just graduated college but played Duke3D as a kid. Duke3D was my first computer game. There are a decent number of people around my age (20's) who played Duke3D growing up and will recognize the name and would be interested in trying out a Duke game.

The Duke Nukem name/franchise won't die for a while, that is for sure...it is just will a new Duke game kill it because it wouldn't live up to the expectations.

Yes, as I've said before I'm fourteen, not too many people know about Duke3D because it was released the year they were born for the people I know. The games probably won't live up to expectations in an upcoming release of Duke because of the LONG wait. But I definitely think younger gamers like myself would like a new release of Duke, as they wouldn't know of the earlier releases like Duke Nukem 3D. Duke Nukem Trilogy will definitely appeal to portable console players, Duke Nukem Forever would appeal to regular console players. Although I definitely prefer a keyboard and mouse to a controller, don't know why. If Duke Nukem Forever is cancelled, the Duke Nukem Trilogy will probably bring it back one way or another.

I'm 14 also, and I know what Duke Nukem is. I played Duke Nukem 3D for the first time when I was 10, and my friend who showed it to me was also 10. Not to mention that the first time I ever heard the name "Duke Nukem" I was 6, and the friend who asked me if I have ever played a Duke game was also 6. I also made friends with a guy when I was 12 who had Time to Kill. Many kids of the younger generation are familiar with Duke Nukem, and I'd say Duke still has a couple decades to live even if DNF never comes out.

And even if Duke does eventually die, so what? It's just a game, and it shouldn't be anything more than that in our lives. There are many things out there that are more worth living for.

As long as DNF is joke in the video game industry, Duke Nukem will never die! :)

Wait a minute, that actually makes sense! :)

I'm sorry to inform you all about this, but Duke Nukem died from lung cancer earlier today. Who would have know that years working out while smoking is bad for your health. :)

I'm sorry Spirrwell, looks like you were wrong. :)

lol, What I meant would have nothing to do with what you said, I said that Duke Nukem himself wouldn't die as long as there is a fanbase, once there's no fanbase, it's game over. So even though you're joking, it wouldn't matter.
