Now for the other thing: I've been poking around the internet for a couple years looking for this one particular map and have had zero luck.
It's a map I remember playing shortly before I moved back in spring 2000. I can't remember the name or the author (though I believe the author was European- possibly French- and I'm pretty sure he was at least somewhat famous in the scene at the time.)
Here's what I do remember:
- It was a hotel on a beach
- It had 2 versions- deathmatch and singleplayer, though I think the singleplayer didn't have a proper exit
- It was a big map, most of it taken up by the hotel. I've tried to find an example picture of how the hotel was designed, but unfortunately no such luck- here's the closest approximation:

As you can see, the lower floors stuck out further than the upper floors. I remember the map made heavy use of sprites to achieve this effect (and did the job quite well) but resulted in the map running slow on machines at the time- the author even warned ahead of time that it'd make Pentiums cry blood.
Help me out here, this has been driving me nuts.
