Duke Nukem 3D disk not installing on Windows 7  "x64 bit."

#1

I tried installing my Duke Nukem 3D game disk ( 100% valid from 3D Realms I bought in '96 ) on my computer with Windows 7 X64 bit OS. I was wondering if there is a program that can help with this, or do I have to pony up and buy a new copy? I'd really appreciate some help with this. Thanks.

Download this

http://dukeworld.duk...e32_current.zip

Then extract that to a empty folder, then copy and paste the file called "DUKE3D.GRP" from your Duke Nukem CD into the folder that you extracted "eduke32_current.zip"

Launch eduke32.exe and bobs your uncle.

Copy DUKE.RTS as well, just because.

Hi,
I tried that, but nowhere on the CD can i find that file. I searched it repeatedly, and no file. Can you tell me WHERE on the CD it is?
Thanks a lot
Bill

Where did you get this "CD"?

It has been too long since I've looked around at a Duke3D CD but I assume the files are pretty much all on the root of the disk.

It may actually be archived inside one of the .DAT files that it would get extracted from when you install it through the dosbox type installer.

I don't even know where my Duke cd's have gone now.

But it would help if we knew if it was the Atomic edition or just the plain 1.3 version.

1.3:
You can find DUKE3D.GRP in DN3DINST folder on the CD.

Atomic Edition:
You can find DUKE3D.GRP in ATOMINST folder on the CD.

At least that's where they are on the CDs I have.

I know they aren't hidden in dat files or anything. I remember just grabbing it off the CD and putting it in the folder. Only the Plutonium Pack or other add-ons (Like Duke it Out in DC) needs to be installed via dos or some patch. Those are in special packages that extract and amend the GRP or something.

Find and launch eduke32.exe, wherever you originally put it.
