I would like a serious public chat with Yatta about the removal of my DNF video topic  "This is going nowhere fast!"

Ok so the unimaginable happened I see. Somebody from the staff deleted my DNF gameplay topic completely.
It's not my job to bitch and whine so I won't but I would really like to ask in a decent manner this time, what the hell is going on around here and why does anybody in charge of this forum, think is a good idea to remove links to a video that is already on very popular gaming news sites?
I really thought this is a DNF fanbase no wait I thought this is the biggest unofficial duke nukem forever fanbase on the whole internet that's why I even registered here in the first place, yet the staff is acting like the forum is hosted in china... What exactly motivates the staff of this forum to censor PUBLIC VIDEOS. Why can every other site host them but this one can't? Does the staff of this forum even realize that by doing that, they are in fact transforming this forum into a place where duke fans can see less of Duke than the people that visit other everyday sites?
Isn't this the whole point of a fanbase? To share and open every single little bit of media including leaked media?
I am really disapointed at how this matter is being treated. What you are doing here is in no way related to any law, if the admin of this forum is censoring these videos then I would like to know what motivates him. If he has decided he wants to run this forum like it's his empire and not care about the community's wishes and contributions then I feel sad for him and for this community and I don't think I want to resume my membership here if that's the case.
I request this answer in the name of the DNF side of the community that doesn't understand what privacy policy has this forum signed with the 3drealms company?
I hope the admin of this forum is mature enough to give a pertinent answer other than to shut up and ban or lock this issue.
Silence and censorship is not resolving any of these issues. I am on a spreading spree as we speak anyway and censorship just fuels my motivation even more.

Good, close your account then. I'm not an admin, I'm just glad to see the link removed. Its not your video to upload, its not gonna help matters. If you want to winge about it FUCK OFF!!

I know you are not the admin don't worry, you wouldn't be able to admin this place with that lack of maturity anyway.

George asked Yatta not to post links to it and he's being kind enough to comply. Obviously, Yatta can't control it's spread on other sites, but this one he can. It's really as simple as that.

Yeah true, but it gets the message across. All the admin is going to say is that the footage is not meant to be viewed by the public and it was leaked etc. Someone from 3DR may have asked the footage to be removed. You've got all the reaction you're going to get here. All you want is kudos for pointing game sites in the direction of the vid and to piss off 3DR, yet you tell me I'm immature.

I already undesrstood that but where does logic start and where does it end in this case here?
If George Broussard asked the owner of this community to stop posting materials from the product that makes the object of this fan community then why is this community a DNF community? Where does logic meet up with this matter? When does a video start to be public and when is it leaked?
The video I posted here was can't be considered leaked when a site like videogameszone.de has it posted.
What's wrong with this picture? Officials can post a video while a small fanbase forum can't? It's ridiculous in any way you look at it... I just want logics out of this mess nothing more.

3dwizard: Rather than misusing the terms "public", "censorship", "law", "empire", "maturity" and "silence" you should just be honest and say what you really want which is see DNF videos. I'm sorry but claiming you have some kind of privilege to see these "public videos" and that there's some big evil dude trying to keep the little guy down by censoring and denying this privilege is bullshit.

You're leaking 3DRealms property, this is not the same thing as being on a crusade against evil overlords.

I am leaking 3DRalms property? Excuse me? Then what about videogameszone.de is that leaking too? You tell me. Are the staff members going to censor the link of that gaming site too now? What is wrong here? Will you censor google.com too if you can find videogameszone.de on google?
I won't post the link to the video but I will mention I like the videogameszone.de site because it shows nice game trailers. Is that good then?
What you refuse to understand is that the video I posted is PUBLIC PROPERTY ALREADY. It might even show area 51 aliens having sex with all the presidents of the world! As long as it's on PUBLIC NEWS SITES, that means they are a not illegal anymore.
Would it help if I linked the video directly from a public news site instead of youtube? That's what I don't understand here. Where are the logics people?
Until I see the public news sites take down the video first I won't understand the logics here.
I am not leaking anything, I am just linking you to an article of a gaming site.
I demand to know what's wrong with linking to a gaming news site like videogameszone.de
I would understand your logics if the video I was linking existed only on youtube and was uploaded by me for the first time, but as long as it's already part of electronic news papers, why is this forum holding freedom of information back? That's what I want to understand here.

Don't be ridiculous, of course you realize it's stupid to try to make something vanish off the face of the internet. Not because it's "fascist censoring" or whatever but simply because it's just not doable, so you might as well not bother.

I don't know who originally uploaded the video but if George is a serious bloke that person might be in a world of trouble (I don't know if they can be sued or anything, it's just speculation)

However I do agree that it's a bit pointless to start locking topics at this point, surely all of us have seen it now so why still bother to keep things under wraps, I wonder.

I just don't like the attitude of "we have a privilege to see these videos, DNF is public material" while it's (or at least should be) private property.

I don't know if you understand what I am saying here. I do not condemn this community from holding back a private video, I am condemning it for removing links to PUBLIC NEWS. I just linked public news about DUKE NUKEM ON THIS SITE AND I GOT CENSORED! That's what I want to know!
Why does www.duke4.net censor LINKS to public NEWS from highly reputable NEWS sites!
It's subject of news on videogamezone.de on gamersyndrome.com I have already received confirmation from http://www.pcgameshardware.com that they will put it up and they thanked me for informing them about it. So I don't see the problem. Today I helped make this video much more public than it was and I didn't need this site to achieve this. I simply sent it to serious news sites that just decided to upload it and write about it... I already told you this is all I have been doing today out of spite! And after finally achieving this, now there's no more reason to censor it because I brought it at a public level, go check twitter people are talking about it already!
All I ever did was to get the video from a public news site and spread it further. This is what I call contribution to a game community and this is what everybody here should call it also. I did not do anything bad I just copy pasted INFORMATION on the INTERNET from one public source to another public source. Yet somehow I managed to piss off people here and get censored like I posted porn videos or something.

That's not an argument. When you are registered on a community that exists solely for that game then your argument can't hold up.
The problem is not the game here, it's the way things are being biased on the forum for no logical reason.

On other forums or in real life, duke nukem is just a game, but on the duke nukem forever section it can be equal or more important than real life matters as far as I am concerned.

Apparently not.

Regardless if the video is already pretty much public domain, or whether it's right or wrong to ask a Duke community site to be one of the few sites NOT allowing links to it is irrelevant. George asked him to remove it and he did. We don't run the site.

Not saying that I necessarily disagree with you, but the boss doesn't have to be right - he only has to be the boss.

How is George the Boss in all this story? Admitting that he is the boss means that this site is affiliated with 3drealms which from my knowledge, it's not.
In this story, George Broussard is just a normal person not a "BOSS"
And don't you think it's really stupid of him to actually expect public videos to not be posted here?
I am trying to figure out who is more naive, the admin of this site that does everything George tells him to do or George that actually wants this video put down even though the whole planet has seen it...
For his sake, I hope Yatta is censoring this ignorantly and because he respects George Broussard or something similar and not because he fears him.

Aww so what you mean to say is that one member can be the boss of everybody else in this community?
I understand, so what you are saying is that Yatta is running this community like he owns the whole community not just the site.
If that's what you are saying then it's sad because this means you admit that Yatta has taken the power decide what's good and what's bad for an entire community.
I might be wrong but I was under the impression that being able to pay for and maintain a site like this is not exactly enough to automatically put you in charge of people that may have more game experience and a higher appreciation for duke than you.Now I don't know Yatta personally, I did see him post a few times here and if anything my first impression is that he is a plain guy younger than me that happens to like duke and probably other old school fps games that he used to play when he was 5 for the first time like I did.
Why does an entire community have to respect his decision without questioning it when it's so damn illogical is beyond me.
I don't know but I am under the impression that everybody here is just too ignorant to notice such subtle things.
If that's the case it's your loss for spending time on a community that restricts the very object that makes this community possible.
I will rest my case and hope the leader of this community can come up with a logical explication for this. If he doesn't It's everybody's loss.
I will be away till that happens.
Good luck everybody, and sorry for actually contributing to this community, I didn't mean to.
I will resume showing the video to other people that care to see it.
Have fun in this empty community that censors new media from this game that releases media once every 20 years...

No, he said "Yatta & the powers" - there's a lot going on behind the scenes you're probably not aware of. You might think Duke4 is an "independent" site solely controlled by Yatta but you couldn't be further from the truth.

Aww so I come here and register as a simple duke fan and I respect the forum rules just to find out there is a hidden layer of rules and interests?
Then why should I respect this forum and it's rules then? Why do you respect it?
How about you fill me in with this "behind the scenes"
Or do I have to slash my wrists and enter a ritual to be accepted into the secret kult of duke fanbase?

1. Leave Duke4.net
2. Create your own fan community website and be able to gather fans and mod creators all over the world.
3. ????????
4. Profit!

You're welcome.

Dude. FFs I just don't get what's wrong with you people but something tells me the whole community is so bored that when a new user registers, they all turn into trolls so they don't get bored anymore.
I ask you something and you answer me something else.
I don't care to create a community for a dead project anyway.
As for hidden secrets and agendas behind this forum, this is just silly but please if that's the truth then don't expect me to act differently when everybody here knows something I don't.
If everybody here knows secret agendas behind this forum and I don't then that's where the problem is.

This opposition is rather odd. Yatta explained a while ago (though I didn't find the thread) the strategy against leaked material. Perhaps you read that 3dwizard, perhaps you didn't. It's not very complicated though. To prevent even more legal troubles, George simply takes actions towards leaked material (as much as possible), and as Duke4.net is one of the most prominent Duke Nukem fan sites, this is a great place to start. You must argue that many people are desperate to get a glimpse of the game, but until the (legal) hiatus has been solved I believe it is in everyone's best interest to try and not link/market etc. any leaked material. What that German video gaming site does is its own problem, but I guess George is onto that soon as well.

I guess everybody knows something that I don't like Sangman suggested.

Hi,

I'm new here but i've been lurking around for a couple of years (on and off).

I wasn't aware of the strategy regarding leaked material mentioned above but as leaked media is basically impossible to control once it's appeared on more than a few sites, I would suggest keeping such material in this community may have its benefits.

Anyone looking for anything DNF is higly likely to hit upon this site. What makes this site different to others is that there are a lot of people here who are able to look at any media and offer valid opinions or discussions based on historic knowledge of the game. They can quickly identify if something is old, test footage, fake, etc, etc. This information can be clearly published (front page even) to prevent users trawling other generic sites and forming incorrect conclusions from lack of knowledge that other sites may have.

I think Yatta and whoever else is involved with this site do a decent job - they're very liberal in what's allowed and clear when someone is near to crossing a line. That said, I can't help thinking there is a missed opportunity to create something postive from the leaked media that would be of benefit to 3DR (potential damage control), Duke4.net (the place for content) and the visitor (complete and reliable information).

Just an opinion of course!

BBass
