Forever in April of 2010?

But it was an interview with Broussard, and how 3D Realms had a planned release date, or a development cut-off in April of 2010.
I know this sounds sketchy without a site to show, but I guaruntee it's true.
So DNF in 2010? I think it might be so, most of the footage looks to be past the beta phase, with some exceptions. The graphics look right for an 8800 level card which means more than often developers were close to being done.

I don't recall Broussard ever saying such a thing unless I've missed something.
To my knowledge it was a Shacknews user called Cubeblue who claims to be the brother of a 3D Realms employee.
Also it's on the front page http://www.duke4.net....php?extend.272
His story checks out as far as I'm concerned.

Confirmed in the plot.

Screenshots of Duke shrunk and driving around the Lady Killer Casino confirm this and it is also mentioned in the plot overview.

Since they do not have all the content wrapped together in a complete unit, they are nowhere near a 'gold' disk.
Backtracking design, level mechanics, graphics, etc.. takes time for the coders to implement and refine the elements together, then get it tested by gamers who will stfu about testing the game for any issues.
-
The only way anything is coming out is, whatever content they already have 'in-game' and complete, meaning levels that are 100% done and working would need to be packaged and sent to Take2. That's not gonna happen, why??? because they only have less than 10 levels (probably less than 5) done 100%. The rest of the levels are missing a lot of elements and are not ready to be integrated into the working game (even it the textures don't look quite right). Take2 and the gaming community would freak over a FPS with less than 10 levels. 3DR would become a worse laughing stock than they already are.
-
alternatively if the game is really 'nearly finished' then that means that, 3DR is in no financial/production position to release the code to Take2 for retail sales, they need a ton of content/levels and 'never done before' game mechanics to have DNF outsell anything else out there. With the trend over the past few years of video game sales/profits declining 3DR will be hard pressed to turn a profit from royalties from Take2. Unless 3DR can be convinced that DNF will 'shatter' sales records and become the 'biggest selling video game of all time' they are better off keeping the game unfinished and waiting for the video game market to pick back up.
-
Want to get it released, we need to get off these forums, get on something much more public (facebook, twitter, etc) and start a list of "I fully intend to purchase DNF even if it costs $xx.xx" if such a list breaks 10 million, oo baby watch George pull a 'gold' dvd out of his ass for Take2 to start shipping. Want a ship date? We need to tell 3DR if it's release before x date we will buy it, if not we won't buy it ever. Take2 is not giving anymore $ to 3DR, only game sales $$$ matter now.
-
but what to I know, I have only been in the gaming industry for 20 years, started with burning eprom chips for atari games

As long as the court case remains active, this game will not be published, period.

Edit:
That obviously doesn't apply any more after they let the dev team go, even if they somehow managed to find a way for someone else to complete it for them.

I'm going to do a little experiment which may push that process forward. Haha, I'm not saying it will help, but it'll be interesting. Anyway, I'm calling on all Duke fans, who are not camera shy, to make a video of themself stating in their own words and one sentence long that they "want to play DNF". It will be kind of a "the fans are upset" type of video. I'm going to ask as many people as possible and compile all the clips into an epic video and upload it to YouTube. I've already got a few people right now who are going to send me their clips. If anyone here is interested in participating, send me a PM here or at YouTube.
If this video draws enough interest, it could help DNF out a lot. If not, it will show that we cared about DNF and wanted to play.
